Talk:Deck archetype (TCG)

Latest comment: 2 July 2025 by Vinnylospo in topic Should we make another page for pocket?

Some of the SWSH decks don't seem to be actual archetypes?

I have never seen someone use Whimsicott VSTAR before 13:28, 23 February 2023 (UTC)

Unkown history

Ok what if I know the the typical decklist and strategy/point of the deck (both from experience going against and using the decks) but I don't know any verbatim history? (like who first popularized it, etc) What do I do?? I can do Gardy+Gallade, Mother Gengar/Queengar, Salamence+Delcatty, Scizor+Cherrim, Shuppet hit-and-run, Palkia LV.X+Flygon (Stallgon), and Shaymin LV.X+Yanmega (thats my home deck but I'm sure some others have used it). So I know alot. --Sivart345 20:33, 8 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

Oh, those are some good decks. It really would be great to have someone else writing these... if you don't know a particular section, leave it blank with a tag stating that the section is incomplete. I should be able to clean it up once you finish. Include as much as you can, though. --ニョロトノ666 20:40, 8 February 2010 (UTC)Reply
Ok I will see what I can do! With spring break coming, I should have more time! --Sivart345 22:27, 5 March 2010 (UTC)Reply
I wrote the Luxdrill and Stallgon articles! --Sivart345 17:29, 7 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

When adding decks

People...it would be very nice if when you add a deck to this list that you put it in ALPHABETICAL order. Several times I have fixed it. =) Thanks. --Sivart345 02:34, 6 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Add Wiggly Deck!

Wigglytuff decks from Jungle-on was a very powerful deck, possibly on par with Haymaker, though it was a completely different deck. They were generally run with Cleffas and Scythers to help fill the deck up quickly. -- Nick15 05:15, 18 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

Yeah, I know. Thank you. --P o L i 05:20, 6 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

Durant Deck

Does anyone know what this deck is called? ~Enervation 02:55, 10 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

It's called Durant, sometimes "Durant Mill". MaverickNate 17:56, 10 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Night March Page?

Night March is a huge deck in the format, and has been huge since it was printed. I believe it deserves its own article, similar to Porydonk (TCG) I'm still new to this forum thing -Pikachu6780 (talk) 00:09, 13 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

Deck Names

I know I love giving my decks creative names and some of these decks are so well known that only a novice wouldn't know what they were called... but then again a novice is probably the one that needs to look up well known decks. When we get to the less well known decks or archetypes from the past, it can be quite frustrating to have to click through multiple articles because the deck has a name that doesn't mention any of the key cards or effects by name.

So perhaps there is a better way to list (possibly even name) these articles? Some decks are very fluid so it might take some tinkering to make it work but having two columns, like "Primary Name" and "Primary Focus" with the former being the general deck name and the latter being the main card of the deck would help out a lot. By designating them as "Primary" it clues people in that there can be variation, but it still makes it so you don't have to remember the "kewl name" a deck was known by when someone added it to the Wiki. I'm a long term player and if I am getting confused, I pity the newbies.

Greninja BREAK article created

I've just seen that this article is not updated at all about new rotations and deck archetypes. Despite this, I decided to write an article about Greninja BREAK archetype. I used as blueprint this: LuxChomp. It seems to me a good starting point. I don't have permission to create page yet, but I would appreciate if someone may look my work and tell me if I'm on the right way or not. Laspandrea (talk) 08:18, 1 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

Are some of the SWSH decks even a thing?

As a comp player, I have literally never seen someone use a Whimsicott deck before. Malamar is like a budget/meme at best, and there are like twelve different Arceus decks.

Also, Calyrex's name is spelt wrong. GooMister29 (talk) 13:32, 23 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

Do the wave

Do the wave is listed as a redlink. There is a draft of that page here: User:Zesty Cactus/Wigglytuff archetype (TCG). I propose the draft be mainspaced. Mateussf (talk) 19:15, 1 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

We need to make more for pocket

Pocket only has Meetwo Gardevoir, we need to do more like Darktina. Vinnylospo (talk) 05:23, 1 July 2025 (UTC)Reply

Feel free to make those pages, TCGP archetypes are a mission on the Bulletin Board. → SuperPikaPool13 10:47, 1 July 2025 (UTC)Reply
Also, for some reason, it doesn’t let me see any categories on mobile. Vinnylospo (talk) 13:47, 1 July 2025 (UTC)Reply
It looks like the mobile skin doesn't show categories by default. You can choose to show categories by turning on Advanced Mode by going to Special:Mobile Options → skin-client-prefs-mw-mf-amc. → SuperPikaPool13 16:41, 1 July 2025 (UTC)Reply
I don’t know how to add a new page. Vinnylospo (talk) 13:48, 1 July 2025 (UTC)Reply
To create a new page, you need to be autoconfirmed (i.e. have had your account for a few days and made a specific number of edits). Then you should be able to create the page by clicking on a red link or manually typing the page name in the url box. → SuperPikaPool13 17:55, 1 July 2025 (UTC)Reply

Should we make another page for pocket?

With how the meta has been shifting, what should we do? Vinnylospo (talk) 06:05, 2 July 2025 (UTC)Reply

Potentially, although the focus before then should be on creating more pages for individual Pocket archetypes, otherwise a page such as this would be pretty empty. Cipher (talk) 07:44, 2 July 2025 (UTC)Reply
I agree with that. Vinnylospo (talk) 14:31, 2 July 2025 (UTC)Reply
