Category suggestions
Hi! Thank you for all the suggestions you've had lately. I will say though, it is much easier to follow all the requests and see them through if they aren't being scattered throughout the TCG Pocket section talk pages. It would be helpful if you add them all onto the TCG Project talk page instead of the individual pages and we can better keep track of them. Thanks! MaverickNate 01:49, 3 July 2025 (UTC)
- ok I will do that instead. Vinnylospo (talk) 02:05, 3 July 2025 (UTC)
Full art categories for TCG Pocket cards
Hi there, please can I ask you to refrain from adding any more categories to TCG Pocket card pages for now? I'm not sure if I've mentioned before, but things like full art categories, rarity categories etc. can be automated. Once we've made a decision on how to proceed with this, we'll start the process so that these are automatically added based on existing page data. Manually adding categories is something we're actively trying to avoid for Pocket cards. If you have any questions, please feel free to let me know. Thanks! Cipher (talk) 22:21, 16 July 2025 (UTC)
- Ok that’s fine Vinnylospo (talk) 04:48, 17 July 2025 (UTC)
Your edits
Heya I reverted your edits on the TCG expansion list as the page is really suited to provide a brief overview of the main characteristics of the set, and really isn't suited to really go into nitty-gritty details about the individual sets; this is best left to the expansion pages themselves. Additionally, while it's understandable that you are editing the page on mobile and its possible to only see changes you want to make after you save an edit; 18 edits on one page for the same task on the same day is a bit excessive. It would be good to consolidate such edits if possible, the editor also provides an option to preview your changes before you save them to facilitate this. If you have any questions do feel free to reach out :) 4iamking 17:00, 23 July 2025 (UTC)
Wisdom of Sea and Sky
Hi! Since you've taken an interest in upcoming game-related topics, I wanted to send you the link to Bulbapedia's unreleased materials policy, specifically the section about upcoming games. To pull from the policy, For upcoming games, only information from officially sanctioned sources should be added to Bulbapedia. Please do not add leaked information. Don't get me wrong; we want to add all of the breaking new information to the wiki, but this policy is in place to protect the website from Cease and Desists from The Pokemon Company, among other concerns. Generally, it's best to post the exact source url in the edit summary when you're posting something like this. Over the past week, there were some legitimate ads being released featuring new cards. But, since you mentioned leaks in your edit summary, I'm obligated to ask you to keep this policy in mind in the future. Since we're less than 24 hours to go until the set release, I'll be leaving the info up, but going forward, it's best to wait until you have an official source to point to. Thanks MaverickNate 11:06, 29 July 2025 (UTC)
- Ok thank you. I will step away Vinnylospo (talk) 13:57, 29 July 2025 (UTC)
Full Art card (TCG)
Bulbapedia staff have noticed that you've edited this page 13(!) times in the past 24 hours. That's rather a lot. We usually try to consolidate edits so that page histories are easier to decipher and places like the recent changes and the encyclopedia's servers aren't bogged down with a bunch of consecutive similar actions. I'm here to make sure you're aware of the Preview Button on the edit page. It's right next to the Save Page button, and it helps to make sure your edit looks the way you want it to and catch mistakes before saving the edit. I recommend trying to utilize that more and also adding more than one entry at a time for a project like this. If you have any questions, feel free to ask, thanks! - Ok I will. The reason why that’s the case is because I have been busy this week and have been trying to add stuff. Vinnylospo (talk) 01:05, 6 August 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks for doing what you can even when you're busy! Every little bit helps. MaverickNate 01:06, 6 August 2025 (UTC)
TCG Pocket deck categories
Hi there! I've noticed you've been making several categories for cards featured in TCG Pocket decks. Please could you provide a bit of information about how these can be useful and what their purpose is, which decks they'll be used for, and how different cards of the same species will be differentiated (e.g. where would the different Eevee and Eevee ex cards be categorised, as there's a lot of them). Thanks! Cipher (talk) 16:24, 20 September 2025 (UTC)
- I mean pre-made decks that use that card and that goes for all of them. Vinnylospo (talk) 03:05, 21 September 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks for your response. Given that the vast majority of cards only appear in a single theme deck list, this is something we consider might be better suited to each individual card's page, as it would be better for navigation purposes than lots of categories with a single page in them. I'd like to ask you to refrain from creating any further categories while this is discussed further. If you have any other ideas or suggestions as to how this could be achieved on card pages, please do let us know (but again, please hold off on updating any card pages until we've reached a decision on what to do and how to do it). Cipher (talk) 09:14, 21 September 2025 (UTC)
- Hmm. I didn’t mean individual cards, I meant the character. Such as how a number of decks have Pikachu (as in the character itself and not on particular card of him). A lot of decks use one card of it but others could use a different one. Vinnylospo (talk) 12:18, 21 September 2025 (UTC)
- Also, by pre-made decks I mean everything from the ones you get as an award, the drop events and the challenges. Vinnylospo (talk) 12:19, 21 September 2025 (UTC)
- Now that I think of it, both could honestly work. Vinnylospo (talk) 12:54, 21 September 2025 (UTC)
- I see what you mean about different cards of the same species appearing in different decks; I'll take it back to the staff team. If you're also counting decks like the ones used in each set's solo battles, like these ones for Genetic Apex, then I'd be concerned about the sheer volume of categories attached to that page, manually or not. For that page I linked, for example, over 130 species and Trainer cards are listed on that page alone, which would immediately make it the second-most categorised page on the entire wiki; we do have species pages like Pikachu (TCG Pocket), so perhaps we could investigate whether or not there'd be any benefit in adding lists to those.
- In the meantime, we're now actively looking at how we can add decks to individual card pages, so hopefully will be able to get something sorted there soon. Cipher (talk) 19:10, 21 September 2025 (UTC)
- Hi there, I noticed you started making some of these categories again. As per my previous message, please can I ask that you refrain from doing this until it has been further discussed by the staff team - I can assure you that it will be discussed, but the past week hasn't been the time for us to do that, as we're focusing on the intricacies of Deluxe Pack: ex coverage as a priority. We'll let you know when this piece of work can proceed, and what it'll look like when it does. Cipher (talk) 07:45, 30 September 2025 (UTC)
- Ok. I was just doing that as it just wasn’t finished and that was it. Vinnylospo (talk) 13:27, 30 September 2025 (UTC)
- Do you guys need some help? Vinnylospo (talk) 16:09, 2 October 2025 (UTC)
- We will not be moving forward with these deck categories. Generally, If a high percentage of categories are sorting a single item (there are currently 70 of these categories and less than 10% have more than one page; only 3 have more than 2), there will be a better way to present that information to the reader. Categories are also considered a very back-room type of sorting function, severely outclasses by mainspace content if possible. In place of the categories, we will be brainstorming a new section to be written on the card pages themselves detailing which preconstructed computer decks each individual card is present in. However, since they are simply the AI opponent's preconstructed decks and not something super-interactable with the player, it will be waiting for a slower period to implement, potentially with a larger upgrade to card pages (such as flair details or a Release information upgrade), and certainly not in the same month as a main series game release. MaverickNate 08:03, 5 October 2025 (UTC)
- Ok that’s fine. What about mentioning the decks the cards are in on the cards’ own pages? Vinnylospo (talk) 12:39, 5 October 2025 (UTC)
