Talk:Aura Sphere (move)

Lucario and the Mystery of Mew.

Is this the attack Lucario used against the Regi's in the 8th movie? If so, this attack looks similar to a Kamehameha Wave from the DragonBall Z series, except that it ia a Sphere and not a Beam.
Well Yeah, Aura Sphere is pretty much a Hadouken for Pokémon --Phred 21:50, 10 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Type?

I think the attack should be a Pyschic type?

But it isn't :P. It has to do with those Ki/Chakra concepts many fictional fighters use to fire beams, etc. This helps the Fighting type by providing it with Special-category moves, something none of the previously-existing Fighting-type moves was. --Johans 15:23, 9 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Well then what does fighting have to do with ki/chakra? Why is Zen Headbutt a Psychic HUH?

Ki/chakra has everything to do with fighting. It's how they pull off special moves like Hadoken. --DarkfireTaimatsu 08:08, 10 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
And Psychic needs Physical moves as much as Fighting needs Special ones. It's about game mechanics, kid. Gotta have balance. TTEchidna 09:04, 10 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Shouldn't it say somewhere that this is the only "Never Miss" move that has a base Power higher than 60? Diachronos 23:19, 5 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Palkia

Isn't the glowing pink sphere that Palkia creates in The Rise of Darkrai an Aura Sphere? He creates it the same way Lucario does and then fires it at Dialga... - Taylor 17:23, 6 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Um, I'm pretty sure you're thinking of Spacial Rend. --Theryguy512 01:37, 7 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
Nope, I recorded the movie on DVR, and everytime I see Palkia shoot the pink aura-like sphere, I think it is Aura SpherePokeManiac102 01:41, 7 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

You would be right, Theryguy512, if Spacial Rend were not depicted at other times in the movie as waves of energy created from a slash. This is much more like an Aura Sphere...--Loveはドコ? (talk contribs) 04:13, 7 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
Also, Palkia created it, held it, and dispatched it in the same way as LucarioPokeManiac102 04:19, 7 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Do we place it in the article?PokeManiac102 13:55, 8 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Pulse or Wave

Why isn't "Wave Bomb" correct?

  1. Lucario's はどう is translated as "wave", not "pulse".
  2. In the real world, "wave" is a perfect translation of 波動. Note that these two Wikipedia pages are interlinked.
  3. This move is "Aura Sphere" in English, meaning the translation team obviously picked up on the "wave guiding" reference.

And where, exactly, was "Pulse Bomb" made official, Theryguy?--Loveはドコ? (talk contribs) 17:23, 8 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Well the translation here is Pulse Bomb of Anger. --Theryguy512
...what does that prove? Anyone can change it at any time. Effectively, that argument is pointless and can be destroyed at any time should I decide to make both articles "Wave Bomb".
Not that I plan to as I want to prove myself here, but I'm making a point.--Loveはドコ? (talk contribs) 18:28, 8 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
I should also bring up the point that Aura Storm (はどうのあらし) is named "wavestorm" in Japanese Brawl's data. Another place where はどう is officially "wave".--Loveはドコ? (talk contribs) 18:34, 8 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
Oh, I guess you're right. Sorry for causing the arguement. --Theryguy512 19:43, 8 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
Theryguy512, user:Urutapu has been at a edit war on the same reason on Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:List_of_Pok%C3%A9mon:_Diamond_%26_Pearl_episodes Also it should not be Wave Bomb.
  1. Dragon PULSE-----------りゅうのはどう its not Dragon Wave
  2. Dark PULSE-------------あくのはどう its not Dark Wave
  3. Water PULSE------------みずのはどう its not Water Wave
  4. PULSE Bomb-------------はどうだん its not Wave Bomb.
And stop saying its Lucario's はどう, Lucario isn't the only Pokemon that can learn the attack, Dialga can, Palkia can, Giratina can, Togekiss can, Mew can, and also Mewtwo can. So are you saying they have their "own はどう" too....Also we need to use the same translation as the one on the episode page DP066....... Pikastormぴか中 (01:53, 9 March 2008 (UTC))Reply
Taiketsu, kindly get a life. I'm just arguing my case and I was agreed with. The fact that you solely opposed me on a different website shouldn't bear with what Theryguy thinks is the correct translation. And I'm going to bring up the whole "consistency is a moot point on a free encyclopedia" again.--Loveはドコ? (talk contribs) 03:14, 9 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Really

is that first picture really needed? Lucario is to far away to actually see with detail, and there already are three other onesC Is for Cookie

Well it shows that Lucario can make it with one hand or both hands. And if you want to see it bigger, just click on it. --Theryguy512 22:37, 8 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
It just seems like overkill to me. Oh wellC Is for Cookie

Mew from Mewtwo Strikes Back?

I really, extremely doubt that the Mew from Mewtwo Strikes Back actually used Aura Sphere. Especially since the move was released three generations later. --Wynautluvr 00:49, 8 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

True, but then again, Mewtwo was shown using Shadow Ball despite not being available until Gen II, or how Donphan appeared despite not being an available pokemon until Gen II (which even then, you pretty much needed to evolve it from a Phanpy.). Heck, Bulbasaur used Tickle once, and that move was released two generations later. Weedle Mchairybug 19:55, 26 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
Uh, kinda different there. Gold and Silver were already being planned and/or worked on when the anime started. And the tickle thing wasn't a technique, it was just... tickling. Capsule Computer 04:59, 28 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Giratina

Should we add that Giratina used this in Giratina and the Sky Warrior? Hades666 15:42, 31 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Do you happen to have a screenshot of it? The Dark Fiddler - Nos hablamos? 15:45, 31 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
Unfortunately no. But we can still add it used it.Hades666 19:45, 31 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
I saw it in the movie, it forms a Blue Orb in its mouth and fires it.Hades666 19:49, 31 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

HGSS

It has a different look in HeartGold and SoulSilver. Can someone try to get a screen of it? --ケンジガール 06:05, 9 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Super Smash Bros. Brawl Charging

If you charge an aura sphere in ssbb then press Left or right then lucario gets blown back by the force of it. a glitch keeps the charge of the aura sphere intact, so you can run around, use other moves, die, use items, anything, but pressing 1 on it's own after chaging to full will relese a fully charged aura sphere. Where shall i put this on the page, or on another page. if the latter, what page? SpecialK Leiks Lucario and The Celebi Glitch 12:59, 1 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

It isn't a glitch. It was meant to be that way. Also, if you die, you have to recharge it. Turtwig A (talk | contribs) 15:16, 1 January 2010 (UTC)Reply
It is a glitch. i mean, how could you put a fully charged aura sphere in your pocket? and i tested it. it doen't need re-charging when you die. SpecialK Leiks Lucario and The Celebi Glitch 15:40, 1 January 2010 (UTC)Reply
Games don't exactly follow the same things that this world does, so it isn't a glitch. Turtwig A (talk | contribs) 15:42, 1 January 2010 (UTC)Reply
sorry Mr. A, but it's a Glitch! SpecialK Leiks Lucario and The Celebi Glitch 17:09, 5 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

Riolu and Raikou

How are they errors? They were game tie-in related, and since games obviously set the standard, game-inspired tie0ins ARE NOT ERRORS. And to mark Riolu as an error and Raikou as not an error using the same exact text is absurd--SandmanDP 23:28, 12 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

Who says they're errors? That section is for Notes. Jo the Marten ಠ_ಠ 23:30, 12 February 2012 (UTC)Reply
I never said they errors. I reverted your note edits as they are referring to the fact that Rilou and Raikou cannot normally learn them in the games. Frozen Fennec 23:31, 12 February 2012 (UTC)Reply
The notes said they can't normally learn them. Riolu's note even linked to Anime move errors--SandmanDP 23:32, 12 February 2012 (UTC)Reply
The reason it sends it to there is because of the section on the page that refers to moves where the Pokemon knows moves that it doesn't normally learn (via events). Littlmiget123 23:36, 12 February 2012 (UTC)Reply
But those aren't errors. The animators knew exactly what they were doing--SandmanDP 23:38, 12 February 2012 (UTC)Reply
Yes, we know that they're there purposefully. Because of events. But other Pokemon of the same species don't normally learn Aura Sphere. That's the whole reason of the notes section in the template. To point these out. ^-^ If it was an error, then we'd list it as such, but we say 'cannot normally learn'. Littlmiget123 23:40, 12 February 2012 (UTC)Reply
If it's there purposely, how is it a mistake? You're not making any sense--SandmanDP 23:52, 12 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

Damage

Under "Generation VI" it says "Aura Sphere's base power is reduced to 80.". But it never states what it was prior to that. How embarrassing. - Colorshade (talk) Sorry. You are quick. :)

Kamehameha reference

Could the Aura Sphere move be a reference to the Kamehameha technique from Dragon Ball ? (see episodes DP068 and DP069 for example, with Maylene and her Lucario)--LeoKetchumB (talk) 17:29, 10 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

Bomb or Bullet?

In Japanese, dan (弾) alone normally translates to "bullet" or "repel/strum" (if the latter is read as "hajiki/hajiku"). Bakudan (爆弾) is the usual Japanese word for a bomb.

If that's the case, shouldn't it be "Wave Bullet/Wave-Guiding Bullet" instead of "Bomb"? I get why it should be so in Chinese since it's much more contextual (or whatever case) than Japanese, but still. --SneaselSawashiro 18:43, 20 June 2016 (UTC)Reply
