:::Why would a Pokémon be based on another Pokémon? Technically yes there are the typical Pikachu-type clones, but that's already in the trivia. I agree that it is probably based on both hamster and gerbil, since hamsters obviously don't have that kind of tail. Another safe bet would be to just say that it's based on domesticated rodents.
