Flavor text Generation III Heals the body by shedding. Generation IV The Pokémon may heal its own status problems. Generation V The Pokémon may heal its own status problems. Generation VI The Pokémon may heal its own status conditions. Generation VII The Pokémon may heal its own status conditions by shedding its skin. Generation VIII The Pokémon may heal its own status conditions by shedding its skin. Generation IX The Pokémon may cure its own status conditions by shedding its skin. Champions The Pokémon has a 30% chance of curing its own status conditions at the end of every turn.

Shed Skin (Japanese: だっぴ Shed Skin) is an Ability introduced in Generation III.

Effect

In battle

At the end of each turn, Shed Skin has a chance of curing the Pokémon of a non-volatile status condition. If it cures a status condition, it does so before burn or poison damage is dealt on that turn.

Generation III

Shed Skin has a 1/3 chance of curing the Pokémon.

In Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire only, due to an oversight, if a Pokémon cures itself of sleep with Shed Skin, it will not be cured of Nightmare even after waking up.

Generation IV

Shed Skin has a 30% chance of curing the Pokémon.

Generation V onward

Shed Skin has a 1/3 chance of curing the Pokémon.

Outside of battle

Shed Skin has no effect outside of battle.
