The Sea Temple Samiya (Japanese: アクーシャ Akusha), spelled Samaya on Pokémon TV and in Chuang Yi's manga translation and referred to as Akusha in VIZ Media's translation of the manga, is an underwater palace built by the People of the Water. It has a complex structure and holds the Sea Crown in its depths.
In animation

The People of the Water built the temple where the Manaphy lived. All Manaphy have homing instincts that guide them to the temple's location even though it has a cloaking device. Shep and his family explained that the People of the Water designed traps, including the temple's cloaking ability, to keep people with evil intentions away from the precious Sea Crown. While it cannot be seen regularly, as it blends in with the water, Samiya will reveal itself under the red moonlight of a lunar eclipse. In the past, whenever the temple reappeared, the People of the Water would gather together to celebrate their connections to the ocean and Water Pokémon. Samiya floats around with the ocean currents presently, but used to stay put.
During the events of Pokémon Ranger and the Temple of the Sea, the temple started to sink when Phantom pulled crystals out of the Sea Crown. Fortunately, it returned to normal after the crystals were placed back in the Sea Crown.
During the movie, it is located south of Cherrygrove City. However, because it moves with the current, it does not have a fixed location.

In the games
Pokémon Ranger
In Pokémon Ranger, a legend states "the bearer of the Sea Crown shall become the world's king", and because of this, the remnant Go-Rock Squad's commander steals a Manaphy Egg from Professor Hastings in a plot to use Manaphy to find the Sea Temple. However, the legend does not come true, because the Egg is reclaimed and sent to a Pokémon Trainer in the faraway Sinnoh region.
In the manga

Movie adaptations
Samiya appears in Pokémon Ranger and the Temple of the Sea, playing the same role as in the eponymous movie.
Pokémon Ranger the Comic: Double Mission
Samiya appears in Pokémon Ranger the Comic: Double Mission, where it is simply referred to as the Temple of the Sea.
The temple is the desire of the Go-Rock Quads, who want the Sea Crown so that they can rule the world. In order to find it, they stole a Manaphy Egg that they planned to hatch and have it lead them to it.

Origin
Samiya is modeled after various locations in Italy[1]. Director Kunihiko Yuyama and his team scouted the ancient ruins in the Italian capital of Rome[2], as well as the southern Italian city of Naples[2] and the nearby island of Capri in the Gulf of Naples.
