You may play only 1 Stadium card during your turn. Put it next to the Active Spot, and discard it if another Stadium comes into play. A Stadium with the same name can't be played.

Rulings

  • This card is similar in effect to the Stadium card Gapejaw Bog, but with a key difference: Gapejaw Bog only places damage counters on Basic Pokémon played from the hand, while Risky Ruins doesn't specify such. Thus, Risky Ruins also targets Basic Pokémon that are Benched directly from the deck (eg. using Nest Ball), and so on.[1][2]
    • If Risky Ruins is in play, and a player puts Lunatone with the "New Moon" Ability and Solrock from their deck onto their Bench at the same time, the "New Moon" Ability prevents all effects of Stadium cards on all of the player's Pokémon in play, and thus no damage counters will be placed from Risky Ruins.[1]
  • Using Ogre's Mask to switch an "Ogerpon ex" card in play with an "Ogerpon ex" card from the discard pile does not count as Benching it, so Risky Ruins does not place damage counters from this process.[1]
