Pokémon Wonder (Japanese: ポケモンワンダー Pokémon Wandā) is an attraction at Yomiuriland, a theme park located in Inagi, Tokyo, Japan. First opening on July 17, 2021,[1] this "nature adventure" attraction is based within the forest that surrounds the theme park and allows guests to experience the wonders of nature as part of a Pokémon research fieldtrip.
Experience
The experience lasts around 90 minutes, and begins with an orientation briefing from Dr. Cresso, where guests become part of a Pokémon research team. They are given a set of survey notes with clues as to where they may discover Pokémon within the attraction, and they must find and follow tracks and look through grass, water and soil in order to find them. The hidden Pokémon are made from natural materials and hand crafted, rather than being made of plastic or represented on screens.
There are two courses for guests to experience, the Whispering Bamboo Forest and the Ancient Stone Wall, and there are 50 different Pokémon spread across them. Up to six participants can be on each team, and only one team can be on each course at a time. For this reason, the attraction is only open to guests who pre-book a time slot, and the attraction is not run every day.
Design
The experience was designed by Keiichi Motoyama, Executive Creative Director at Six Inc., who previously produced the global launch trailer for Pokémon GO.[1][2] The experience was also designed by Ryogo Matsumaru, Chief Executive of Riddler Co., Ltd., a writer and YouTuber who specialises in creating riddles.
Access
Tickets must be booked in advance, and sales are periodically announced on the official Yomiuriland X account (formally Twitter). Regular tickets for adults cost ¥4,900 (although if a single adult participates, they are charged ¥9,800), and a child ticket is ¥1,800. Children under elementary school age are not allowed to participate.[3] Due to mountain paths and stairs, the attraction is not wheelchair accessible.[4]
