Undubbed character This article is about a character featured in the Pokémon anime who has not yet debuted in the English language dub.
As such, their information may contain romanized Japanese names, rather than dub names.

(Japanese: ジエイ Jiei) is a character of the day who appeared in SS009. He is a Pokémon Trainer from Ecruteak City.

Jiei had encountered the Legendary Pokémon Ho-Oh in his youth, with a Rainbow Wing as proof. He passed on his fascination with Ho-Oh to his grandson Kurio, and both have long hoped to see the Ho-Oh. Following decades of failed searches, Jiei grew doubtful of the encounter and even threw out his Rainbow Wing. His grandson, however, never stopped believing in the stories and retrieved the Wing.

Later visiting the Bell Tower with Ash and Go, they climbed to the top and called out to Ho-Oh, but it didn't appear. As Ash, Go, and Kurio were about to leave, Jiei spotted Ho-Oh and called out to them. Unfortunately, by the time they turned back, Ho-Oh had already disappeared from sight.
