Differences between the animated series and the manga
- As the events of A Test in Paradise! and A Chilling Curse! were skipped, Ash's Dragonite and Gengar debut here.
- As Ash only registers for the World Coronation Series in the next chapter, the battle against Hayden is just a normal battle between the two Trainers.
- Goh is never shown catching an Exeggcute.
- Ash catches Riolu immediately after driving the Onix off instead of taking it to a Pokémon Center first.
