Gecqua (Japanese: ミオリー Miori) is a Water-type Pokémon introduced in Generation X.

Along with Browt and Pombon, Gecqua is one of the three first partner Pokémon available at the beginning of Pokémon Winds and Waves. They were also the first Generation X Pokémon to be revealed to the public on February 27, 2026, through a Pokémon Presents video presentation.

Biology

Gecqua is a blue reptilian Pokémon resembling a gecko. It has a large head and eyes compared to its body; the eyes appear half-lidded, with protrusions resembling eyelashes on the outer corners of its upper eyelids. These eyelids are colored cyan, as are the tips of each finger on its three-toed limbs. Other parts of its body are of a different shade of pale blue, namely its belly, the stripes on its back and tail, and the water droplet marking on its forehead.

Gecqua has a short and bulbous tail, which it uses to launch springy balls of water. It has an intelligent, shrewd, and haughty personality.[1]

Trivia

Origin

Gecqua may be based on a gecko, specifically the fat-tailed gecko, the knob-tailed gecko, or the crested gecko.

Name origin

Gecqua may be a combination of gecko and aqua (Latin for "water") or acqua (Italian for "water").

Miori may be a combination of 水 mizu (water) or 澪 mio (waterway) and 守宮 yamori (gecko).
