The second set in the Pokémon Frienda Best Tag series was released on September 18, 2025. It consisted of at least 73 Frienda Picks and was the seventh set overall.

Information

Super-ancient Pokémon Groudon and Kyogre served as two of the set's focal Pokémon and were available to capture as Grade 5 Super Treasure Pokémon. Grade 5 Scizor, Gardevoir, and Salamence were also showcased and were capable of Mega Evolution, as were several Grade 4 Treasure Pokémon: Steelix, Absol, and Abomasnow. Supporting the Terastal mechanic in this set were Grade 5 Pokémon Bloodmoon Ursaluna, Armarouge, and Shaymin, as well as Grade 4 Pokémon Lilligant and Krookodile. A Grade 5 Tapu Koko and a Grade 4 Midday Form Lycanroc were able to use Z-Moves, and a handful of Grade 4 Pokémon could use Tag Moves: Chandelure, Midnight Form Lycanroc, and Golisopod. Previously featured Super Treasure Pokémon Lugia, Ho-Oh, and Greninja could be encountered and obtained as Legacy Picks from October 30, 2025.

Several gameplay elements and campaigns were featured during this set as part of a collaboration with the variety show Where are We Going With Pokémon!? Between September 18 and November 26, 2025, players could encounter Koccar (Japanese: コッカー), an animated character in the show, on Exploration Road. If they did, and they activated Pursuit Chance! on a subsequent turn, one of the three Where are We Going With Pokémon!? presenters would occupy a fail space on the Pursuit Roulette. If selected, that presenter's favorite Pokémon would be summoned to attack:

• Selecting Ryogo Matsumaru would summon a Ceruledge, which would attack with Bitter Blade
• Selecting Hikaru Takahashi would summon an Umbreon, which would attack with Dark Pulse
• Selecting Abareru-kun would summon a Wiglett, which would attack with Water Gun

During the same period, Koccar would introduce Abareru-kun's Poké Gag Corner (Japanese: あばれるくんのポケギャグコーナー) at the end of a session, in which Abareru-kun would perform one of seven possible Pokémon-based visual gags. Players could enter a competition for a chance to win a Frienda Folder DX autographed by the Where are We Going With Pokémon!? presenters by taking a photo of the gag and posting it on X (formerly Twitter) or Instagram with the hashtag #ポケどこでフレンダやるんだ. Players were then required to follow the official Pokémon Frienda account on the relevant social media platform to complete their entry. People could submit as many different photos as they wanted; however, multiple submissions using the same photo would only count as one entry. Fifteen winners were selected by lottery after the campaign period and contacted via X or direct message on Instagram with a request for their details. Prizes were scheduled to be shipped around January 2026.

Starting September 21, 2025, a Promotional Sableye Frienda Pick was given away at participating locations with a Pokémon Frienda machine. This Frienda Pick features the Where are We Going With Pokémon!? logo and an image of the three presenters would appear in-game when Sableye was selected to attack for the first time. The final phase of this collaboration began on October 30, 2025, which saw the Where are We Going With Pokémon!? team appear as a special Trainer Battle opponent.

With the launch of Best Tag set 2, Pokémon Frienda machines installed at select Pokémon Centers and Pokémon Stores across Japan were updated to run a special Pokémon Center Version. Machines running this version could be identified by a graphic on the start screen and the presence of additional Pokémon graphics throughout gameplay, including Eevee, its Evolutions, and Pikachu. Players with Trainer Picks could claim several in-game rewards by playing on a Pokémon Center Version machine. Upon completing their first session, players would unlock a Pokémon Center T-shirt Dress-up Item and a store-specific Frienda Charm. Sixteen named Pokémon Center Frienda Charms were available to collect, plus one generic Pokémon Store Frienda Charm. If players recorded activity during their profile's registered birth month, they would also unlock a Happy Birthday! Frienda Charm at the start of a game session. Each reward could only be unlocked once. Participating locations included:

From the launch of Best Tag set 2 until November 26, 2025, players who scanned their Trainer Pick at least once would earn a Weekly Stamp. If that player scanned a Trainer Pick with the same profile in a subsequent week before the deadline, they would earn another stamp. Accumulating multiple stamps would unlock different rewards:

• 2 stamps: Beret Dress-up Item
• 3 stamps: Grass Scope
• 4 stamps: Stylish Hair Dress-up Item
• 5 stamps: Super Treasure Sensor

Players with Trainer Picks could also obtain a Super Treasure Sensor earlier into the set's run if they recorded activity before October 1, 2025. The effect of the Super Treasure Sensor would remain active for eight days inclusive of the day it was obtained.

Two more Frienda Circle Present Campaign lotteries were held while this set was in operation. The first was open between September 18 and October 22, 2025; the second was open between October 23 and November 19, 2025. Players with Trainer Picks and a linked Frienda Circle account would earn 10 points for every Frienda Pick dispensed. During each lottery period, they could spend 100 points on the Frienda Circle campaign page in attempt to win, and could do so as many times as they were able either until the end of the period or until all prizes had been claimed. Accumulated points could be used in any lottery period, but could not be carried over from a previous set's campaign or to a subsequent one. Players that won a prize were required to submit their details by November 26, 2025. Each lottery offered 250 copies of a golden door keychain, 250 copies of a Pokémon Frienda logo keychain, and 250 copies of a Frienda Box Gold Version. The prizes were distributed at random—those for the first lottery were scheduled to be shipped in late October 2025; those for the second were scheduled to be shipped in early December 2025.

Similar to the event held during the second set, a Halloween Party (Japanese: ハロウィンパーティー) theme was in effect on updated machines between October 9 and November 26, 2025. During this period, players could come across pumpkins while moving along Exploration Road, which they could interact with to create sweets. Creating sweets had a chance to attract Super Treasure Pokémon that could only be encountered during the event period: Pikachu, Banette, and Darkrai. Encountering any of these Pokémon would begin a Climax Battle and any Pokémon caught would be dispensed as a Wonder Pick.

Players with Trainer Picks would retain any sweets they acquired and could earn extra rewards by collecting more: one sweet would unlock a Halloween Hat Dress-up Item; six sweets would unlock a Halloween Set Dress-up Item. After collecting six sweets, the player's avatar would temporarily change into the full Halloween costume in the main hub and pose next to the Captain for a photo opportunity. Players using Frienda Circle could track their progress on their home page and update their avatar's appearance with any acquired items on the shop page. They would also unlock Frienda Charms upon creating certain numbers of sweets.

New Partner Pokémon

Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle were introduced in the first Best Tag set as the series's default Partner Pokémon options. Players that had fully evolved at least one of these Pokémon could select Gastly to raise.

Support Pokémon Tickets

A digital Sandy Shocks Support Pokémon Ticket was available to Frienda Circle members that logged in while this set was in operation. A ticket for Brute Bonnet was also present on the Best Tag set 2 promotional pamphlet, which could be downloaded from the official Pokémon Frienda website. Other physical tickets were included in Shogakukan publications and given away at events.

Trainer Battle opponents

The three standard Trainer Battle opponents in this set consisted of Music Lover Nonoko, Carpenter Tomotaka, and Master Frienda Nana. Players with Trainer Picks that defeated an opponent would unlock a Dress-up Item based on their attire. Defeating all three opponents would also unlock a set-specific Frienda Charm. Players that managed to clear all three challenges for each opponent would unlock an alternate-color Dress-up Item based on Master Frienda Nana's outfit. The target scores for the score challenges were as follows:

• 280,000 points for Music Lover Nonoko
• 330,000 points for Carpenter Tomotaka
• 380,000 points for Master Frienda Nana

Between October 30 and November 26, 2025, players could challenge the Where are We Going With Pokémon!? team in an online ranked event. This battle could be initiated by touching the event banner on the title screen and inserting ¥100 after the prompt. Players that managed to defeat the team would receive a Frienda Charm. Those with the top 100 scores following the end of the event would become eligible for a certificate, which could be applied for through Frienda Circle.
