Pokémon Center Hiroshima (Japanese: ポケモンセンターヒロシマ Pokémon Center Hiroshima), is a Pokémon Center store that opened in Hiroshima, Hiroshima, Japan, on june 26, 2015.[1] It was later relocated and re-opened on April 11, 2025. The store includes a Pokémon Card Station.
History
On June 26, 2015 Pokémon Center Hiroshima opened in the SOGO Hiroshima store in Naka-ku, Hiroshima. For the opening, a Shiny Magikarp and Shiny Gyarados event Pokémon for Pokémon X and Y and Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire were first distributed at all Japanese Pokémon Centers[2].
Customers were also offered a multitude of items depicting Pikachu wearing a poncho of Magikarp, Gyarados and Red Gyarados. These included rice paddles, re-usable shopping bags, plastic bags, plushes and 2 Promo Cards: Pretend Magikarp Pikachu (XY-P Promo 150) and Pretend Gyarados Pikachu (XY-P Promo 151) which came alongside the Pretend Magikarp & Pretend Gyarados Pikachu Special Box.
On early 2025, the original store was closed for refurbishment and re-location. On April 11, 2025, Pokémon Center Hiroshima re-opened on the ekie store mall, at the Hiroshima Main Station, and a series of commemorative merchandise was announced.
Timeline
- April 18, 2015 - Pokémon Center Hiroshima is announced to open in the summer.
- June 26, 2015 - Pokémon Center Hiroshima opens in Funabashi, Hiroshima.
- April 11, 2025 - Pokémon Center Hiroshima reopens in a new location in Hiroshima Station.
Gyarados Square

Ahead of the relocation of the Pokémon Center to the ekie store on Hiroshima Station, a playground named Gyarados Square (Japanese: ギャラドスひろば Gyarados Square or Plaza) opened on March 24, 2025, located on the rooftop of the adjacent Minamoa shopping mall.

Pre-moving campaign
Customers at the original store who spent over ¥3000 the weeks before it's closing for relocation, between March 8 and March 30, 2025; would receive an original ticket holder, featuring Pikachu, Magikarp and a Red Gyarados.

Re-opening day merchandise
A merchandise line was available on the re-opening day in commemoration of the event. The artwork and items feature multiple icons of the Hiroshima Prefecture, particularly the Okonomiyaki, the Setouchi Hiroshima Lemons, the Momiji manjū, a pastry from Itsukushima, which is also represented by it's scenic maple tree forests and the free roaming Sika deer; the Edion Peace Wing Hiroshima Soccer Stadium, the Mazda Stadium for baseball, It's thriving sector of craftworks in Denim and make up brushes and rice paddles.

Hiroshima Toyo Carp Collaboration
Another merchandise line to celebrate the re-opening of Pokémon Center Hiroshima is a collaboration with local baseball team Hiroshima Toyo Carp. The collection includes items suitable for attending a baseball game, like scarfs and message towels for the players.

Iconography
The store opened in June 2015 in the SOGO Hiroshima store, a large statue of Red Gyarados and Pikachu was placed inside the store. The new store located at ekie store has a new statue, adding a jumping Magikarp to the original couple. While Gyarados and Pikachu are the store mascots, both regular and shiny Magikarp are commonly present at the store decorations, events and merchandise, often trying to swim up waterfalls.
