Release information

This card was first released in the Japanese V Starter Set Lightning. The English print was first released in the Sword & Shield expansion, along with Full Art and Secret Rainbow Rare prints, which all feature artwork by Naoki Saito. All three Sword & Shield prints originate from the Japanese Sword expansion. In Japan, the Regular print was reprinted in the Sword & Shield Premium Trainer Box and as a Mirror Holofoil S-P Promotional card, which was awarded to winners of New Battle events held at participating Pokémon Card Gym venues. Events held between December 6, 2019 and February 6, 2020 required players to use at least four Pokémon from the Sword or Shield expansions in their decks.[1] Events that started February 7, 2020 required players to use at least four Pokémon from the VMAX Rising subset. These would have been held up to March 5 inclusive but all official events were canceled starting February 29, 2020 due to the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.[2] This print has the collection number 027/S-P and features the Pokémon Card Gym logo. Another S-P Promotional print, this time Non Holofoil and with the collection number 056/S-P, was one of nine possible cards included in special packs sent to Event Organizers in April 2020 for distribution in official events hosted by them. This print features the Event Organizer logo in the bottom right corner of the illustration. It was reprinted again in the Japanese Water Wailord V Deck. Outside Asia, the Regular print was reprinted in the Champion's Path expansion.

Another S-P Promotional print with different artwork by You Iribi was released in the Japanese Bede's Determination Trainer Card Collection on November 20, 2020. This print was later released in the special Crown Zenith expansion outside Asia. The Regular print was reprinted again in the Japanese Venusaur VMAX Starter Set and Zacian & Zamazenta vs Eternatus Special Deck Set.
