It features the three final evolutions of the three Alola starter Pokémon, and was made available on December 9, 2016 alongside the release of the Collection Sun & Moon.
Information
Featuring the three Alola region starter Pokémon, the Sun & Moon Starter Set Decks are a trio of Theme Decks each released separately in Japan. Released on December 9, 2016, the Decidueye-GX Starter Set Grass (Japanese: スターターセット草 ジュナイパーGX), Incineroar-GX Starter Set Fire (Japanese: スターターセット炎 ガオガエンGX), and Primarina-GX Starter Set Water (Japanese: スターターセット水 アシレーヌGX) each include a rulebook, damage counters, status counters, a custom coin, playmat.
Each Starter Set contains two sections of cards, which are packaged separately. The first section will always contain a fixed selection of Pokémon and Energy cards relative to the type of the titular Pokémon-GX, plus multiples of other cards for a total of 39 cards. The second section contains 2 different groups of Pokémon, an equivalent set of Energy cards, and a selection of single cards for a total of 21 cards. None of the cards in the set have rarity symbols.
A special Sun & Moon GX Starter Set was also made available exclusively at Toys "R" Us stores in Japan on the same day. This deluxe version contains the three Theme Decks as well as exclusive Pikachu and Mimikyu SM-P Promotional cards.
