Pokémon Refresh (Japanese: ポケリフレ Poké Refré) is a feature introduced in Pokémon Sun and Moon that allows the player to clean their Pokémon after they become dirty in battle. The feature is similar to Pokémon-Amie from the Generation VI games. It uses the touch screen to allow players to pet, feed, and clean the Pokémon currently on their team.
Features
Refresh
The main feature of Pokémon Refresh is to clean a Pokémon if it gets dirty during a battle. The player has access to a rag, a comb, a brush, a hair dryer, and a medicinal swab. These tools allow the player to clean off dirt, untangle messed up hair, dry the Pokémon and even cure them of Status condition such as Poison and Paralysis.
Petting
The player may pet their Pokémon by using the touch screen to rub it. Each Pokémon that can be petted has some specific places where it especially likes to be petted and others where it dislikes it.
Special actions can cause harm to the player, such as rubbing Pikachu's cheeks which will give an electric shock to the player.
Happiness benefits
A Pokémon with a high level of happiness will gain certain bonuses in battle such as having higher evasion and holding on in battle when it would normally faint.
Poké Beans
Poké Beans (Japanese: ポケマメ Poké Bean) are small heart-shaped beans that can be fed to Pokémon to increase their happiness.
