Kinesis (Japanese: スプーンまげ Spoon Bend) is a non-damaging Template:Type2 move introduced in Generation I. It is the signature move of Kadabra and Alakazam.

Effect

Kinesis decreases the target's Accuracy stat by one stat level. Kinesis will do nothing if the target's Accuracy stat is at a stat level of -6, and will fail if the target has a Substitute or is under the effect of Mist.

Trivia

  • The Japanese name for this move is in reference to the psychokinetic spoon bending tricks popularized by stage psychic Uri Geller. The English name is simply the "-kinesis" suffix from the Greek for "motion" from related words such as psychokinesis and telekinesis.
  • Until Pokémon Yellow, it was impossible to learn Kinesis, as it only appeared as a random Metronome move prior.
