James's Yamask (Japanese: コジロウのデスマス Kojirō's Desumasu) is the first Pokémon that James caught in the Unova region.

History

James and Yamask

Yamask appeared before Team Rocket in a warehouse in BW025, where James proceeded to feed it. Once it was full, it happily went into James's Poké Ball.

In BW029, Yamask befriends a group of Litwick in a mansion that Team Rocket was using as a base. However, it was kidnapped by the Candle Pokémon in an apparent attempt to lure James and Jessie into a trap. Yamask teams up with Jessie's Woobat, Ash's Oshawott, Ash's Pikachu, and Cilan's Dwebble to defeat the Litwick and their Lampent leader.

In BW030, Yamask was used to battle Amy's Druddigon and Iris's Axew, and despite using a powerful Night Shade attack, it was defeated by Druddigon's Draco Meteor.

In BW037 it was used to battle ash and friends with Jessie's Woobat . they were defeated by Ash's Tepig's ember, Pikachu's electro ball and the Roggenrolas' Flash cannon

Personality

Like many of James's Pokémon before it, Yamask is very friendly and is shown to already have a great relationship with its Trainer. It is a very thankful Pokémon as shown when it willingly entered James's Poké Ball after it was given a little food.

Trivia

• Yamask is the first Ghost-type Pokémon to be officially owned by a main character.
• This is the first Pokémon James has added to his party since Carnivine in Two Degrees of Separation!, 214 episodes ago. Since Carnivine was actually obtained when James was still a child, this is his first capture in 261 episodes.
