This card was released in the English {{TCG|Base Set}}, first originating from the Japanese {{TCG|Expansion Pack}}. This card was included in the {{TCG|Trainer Deck A}}, which was given to prototype {{TCG|Pokémon League}}s before the Base Set's official release. All of the cards in this deck have red borders and "Trainer Deck A" printed on the backs. It was reprinted in the English {{TCG|Base Set 2}} expansion, the Japanese {{TCG|Hanada City Gym|Hanada}}, {{TCG|Kuchiba City Gym|Kuchiba}}, {{TCG|Tamamushi City Gym|Tamamushi}}, and {{TCG|Yamabuki City Gym}} theme decks, and the Totodile Half Deck of the Japanese {{TCG|Intro Pack Neo}}.

It was later reprinted in the English {{TCG|Undaunted}} expansion with new artwork by [[Ryo Ueda]], originating from the Japanese {{TCG|Reviving Legends}} expansion. It was given an errata alongside the release of {{TCG|Black and White}} so that it now protects against damage from all attacks, not just opponents' attacks.
This card was later reprinted in the {{TCG|Undaunted}} expansion with new artwork by [[Ryo Ueda]], first released in the Japanese {{TCG|Reviving Legends}} expansion.

An errata released alongside {{TCG|Black and White}} says that the card should read "by attacks" instead of "by an opponent's attack".
With the release of the {{TCG|Black and White}} expansion, this card received an erratum to change "by an opponent's attack" to "by attacks".
