Berry Picker (Japanese: もぎってナッツ Pick Berries) is a game players may play with their Pokémon in Pokémon-Amie. The game requires the player to pick Berries from a Berry tree and drag them to the Pokémon that wants them.
Gameplay
In Berry Picker, one to three of the player's Pokémon (varying during the course of the game) will pop in and out under a large Berry tree that bears several varieties of Berries, and they will show the player a Berry that they want. The player must drag the correct Berry from the tree to the Pokémon. If the player makes a Pokémon wait too long or gives it the wrong Berry, the Pokémon will briefly disappear again. The player is rated by how many Berries they correctly distribute and will receive several Poké Puffs depending on the rating achieved. The game has no display to track the exact score, but for every tenth Berry correctly given to a Pokémon, the Pokémon will make its cry and the current score will display just above it.
The game will rotate between showing one, two, and three of the participating Pokémon at the same time. Any two Pokémon that are active at the same time will never request the same Berry. When the player drags a Berry to a Pokémon, if the player delivers the Berry quickly, the sound played will end with a high note and a red music note surrounded by sparkles will display inside the bubble over the Pokémon; but if the player is slow in delivering the Berry, the sound played will have a dull note and only a yellow music note will display in the bubble.
Difficulties
To unlock a higher difficulty, the player must first beat the previous difficulty with a rating of at least three stars.
Easy, Normal, and Hard
In the first three difficulty levels, the player has 60 seconds in which to distribute as many Berries as they can. As the difficulty increases, there will be more varieties of Berries in the tree. The Easy difficulty has three varieties (Razz, Bluk, and Pinap), the Normal difficulty has five (adding Wepear and Magost), and the Hard difficulty has seven (adding Durin and Nomel).
The rotation of one, two, or three Pokémon in these difficulties will follow the same pattern. First, 10 Pokémon will be allowed to request a Berry singly. Next, 15 Pokémon will be allowed to request Berries in pairs. Finally, all three Pokémon will be allowed to request Berries together until the timer runs out.
In the Easy and Normal difficulties, all Pokémon will wait three seconds for a Berry. While the Hard difficulty starts out the same, the Pokémon's patience gradually shortens to two seconds; once Pokémon start showing up in threes, however, they will all wait three seconds again.
Unlimited
In the Unlimited difficulty level, instead of having a time limit, the player is limited to three misses. Not feeding a Pokémon the correct Berry is a miss, whether the player gave it the wrong Berry or failed to give it any Berry in time. Like in Normal difficulty, the Berry tree has five Berries.
The rotation pattern for the first and second rotations of one/two/three Pokémon is 5/10/15 Berries, followed by 5/15/30 Berries for the third rotation. After this (110 Berries), the rotation pattern becomes much more varied and the amount of time a Pokémon will wait for a Berry soon decreases to a level that demands the quickest reactions. Throughout the first three rotations, however, the Pokémon all wait three seconds for a Berry.
Requirements and rewards
The table below gives the minimum requirements to achieve a given rating for each difficulty, and the Poké Puffs that will be rewarded for achieving that rating.
Titles
A title of sorts is also associated with different ratings. These titles are purely aesthetic and only appear when a rating is given after completing a game.
0 - 4.5 stars | 5 stars | |
---|---|---|
Easy | Berry Amateur | Berry Superstar |
Normal | Berry Semipro | Berry Master |
Hard | Berry Pro | Berry Grand Master |
