Anthony (Japanese: トンペイ Tonpei) is a recurring character in the Pokémon anime and a Pokémon Coordinator who entered the Hoenn Grand Festival. He appeared in Deceit and Assist and Rhapsody in Drew.

History

Ash and his friends met Anthony while he was on the beach looking for his Contest Ribbons and Contest Pass, which had been stolen by Team Rocket. He was worried that he would not be able to enter the Grand Festival. With the help of Ash, Max, and Officer Jenny, Anthony tracked down Team Rocket and retrieved his Ribbons just in time for the competition. It was revealed that he got the 52nd place in the first Appeals Round.

Swalot was seen training with Anthony for the upcoming Grand Festival. After Team Rocket tried to steal Anthony's Ribbons, he had Swalot use a combination of Swallow and Spit Up to stop them in their tracks. After defeating Team Rocket, Swalot was used during the Appeals Round where its techniques had Anthony move on to the Battle Round.
