The episode starts with {{Ash}}, {{an|Brock}}, and [[Max]] stepping outside of the Pokémon Center. Ash is eager for the next battle with the next Frontier Brain. However, {{TP|Brock|Bonsly}} begins to cry uncontrollably, startling Ash, and Brock tells them it's feeding time, asking them to go ahead without him. Ash then wonders where {{an|May}} is. Max tells him that she did say she wanted to show her {{TP|May|Eevee}} the ocean, leaving Ash in temporary bewilderment as he decides to search for her at that area. Ash and his {{AP|Pikachu}} subsequently continue to the Battle Pike without them.

Arriving at the Battle Pike, the doors open to reveal [[James]], {{MTR}} and {{TP|Jessie|Wobbuffet}} disguised as three servants, greeting him. As Ash enters the Battle Pike, Meowth pulls the curtain revealing [[Jessie]], disguised as [[Pike Queen Lucy]], the Battle Pike Frontier Brain. As Jessie makes introductions, she makes a mistake in her speech by calling Ash, 'twerp' but quickly corrects her words. Failing to notice it, Ash challenges her to a match. But then James holds up a strange container, which he says is a Pikachu Power Purifier, and instructs Ash to place Pikachu inside. Back at the Pokémon Center, Brock manages to calm down Bonsly after feeding it, as May and Max joins him. As they are about to head towards the Battle Pike, [[Barbara]] and her two friends come upon them asking where Ash is. She is angry after hearing he left as they were supposed to greet him. Fortunately, [[Scott]] comes in the nick of time to stop the arguing. He says that he was supposed to greet Lucy, Barbara and her friends at the Battle Pike but it was closed for today. Just then, projectile shoots off from the distance, revealing the real Pike Queen Lucy and she apologizes towards them for Barbara's rudeness. As usual, Brock flirts with her but is quickly pulled away by Barbara while Lucy blushes. She snaps out when Scott asks her if she's alright.

May asks Scott if he means he was here to greet Lucy, when Barbara yells to adress her as Queen Lucy. Losing their balance, the box opens and Ash saves Pikachu while Team Rocket's balloon falls down in front of them. The rest of the gang met up with Ash while Scott tells him about Lucy, making it a surprise to Ash and Team Rocket. Not too happy, Jessie sends out her {{TP|Jessie|Seviper}} while Ash is about to battle her, Lucy tells him to let her deal with Jessie and sends her [[Lucy's Seviper|Seviper]]. The gang is surprised about Lucy's Pokémon but Barbara commented that Lucy's Seviper is stronger than hers. Proving her wrong, both Seviper use {{m|Poison Tail}}. Lucy comes into the scene, throwing her trademark projectile at the balloon and causing a puncture. Losing their balance, Team Rockets' balloon tumble to the ground, the box holding Pikachu falling out and opening. Ash catches Pikachu while Team Rocket's balloon falls down in front of them. The rest of the gang met up with Ash while Scott tells him about Lucy, making it a surprise to Ash and Team Rocket. Inside the real Battle Pike, Ash analyzes the battlefield that has both water and land. In the first match, it is Lucy's Seviper against Ash's {{AP|Donphan}}. Scott is impressed by his choice and his Phanpy evolved into Donphan so fast. As the match begins, Donphan makes its first move by using {{m|Take Down}} but Seviper defends itself, using Poison Tail attack. Next Seviper uses {{m|Bite}} attack but Donphan quickly uses {{m|Defense Curl}} and {{m|Rollout}} attacks together, knocking out Seviper. Donphan uses Rollout again but this time, Seviper dodges it and hits it with its Poison Tail.
Inside the real Battle Pike, Ash analyzes the battlefield that has both water and land. The referee announces the batlle will be two-on-two. Lucy calls out her Seviper and Ash calls out his {{AP|Donphan}}. Scott is impressed that Phanpy evolved into Donphan and mentions that Ash will have the upper hand in the battle with Donphan being virtually immune to {{t|Poison}} attacks. As the match begins, Donphan starts by using {{m|Take Down}}. Seviper defends itself using Poison Tail. Max comments that the two Pokemon look evenly matched. Lucy commands Seviper to use {{m|Bite}}, but Donphan quickly uses {{m|Defense Curl}} and {{m|Rollout}} together, knocking Seviper back. Donphan uses Rollout again but this time, but Seviper dodges it and hits with its Poison Tail. Donphan is sent rolling towards a wall, but Ash tells Donphan to use the energy from the roll to jump. Donphan jumps and uses Take Down directly at Seviper. Lucy closes her eyes, bewildering Ash and the gang. Scott tells them that this is her battle style and to their surprise, Seviper uses Flamethrower at the exact moment Lucy tells it to, knocking Donphan down. Donphan begins to charge its {{m|Hyper Beam}} attack, even with Seviper's Poison Tail coming at it. Donphan  maintains its stance and uses Hyper Beam at Seviper, but Seviper uses Poison Tail towards the water to make a huge veil of smoke. Seviper uses Flamethrower at Donphan, but Donphan dodges and uses Rollout. Seviper re-directs the Flamethrower, hitting Donphan and turning it into a Fireball. Ash tells Donphan to head toward where the Flamethrower is coming from. Seviper jumps up, about to use Poison Tail. Donphan uses a rock to catapult itself up in the air, hitting Seviper and knocking it out. The referee anounces Ash as the victor of the first battle. May and Max talk about how great Ash and Donphan were, while Barbara and her gang whine over Sevipers' defeat. Barbara cheers Lucy on, closely followed by Brock, making Lucy blush. May looks at Brock, aksing him whose side he is on. Brock stands and yells that he's routing for both of them, but Max grabs his ear and pushes him back into his seat.

Just then, Lucy closes her eyes, bewildering Ash and the gang. Scott tells them that this is her battle style and to the gang's surprise, Seviper uses Flamethrower at the exact moment Lucy tells it to, knocking Donphan down. Changing strategy, Donphan begins to charge its {{m|Hyper Beam}} attack. Even with Seviper's Poison Tail attack, Donphan  maintains its stance and uses Hyper Beam at Seviper, but Seviper uses Poison Tail towards the water and makes a huge envelopment of smoke. Seviper uses Flamethrower at Donphan, but Donphan dodges it and uses Rollout again. However, it is hit by the Flamethrower, turning it into a Fireball. Donphan then heads towards where the Flamethrower is coming from. As the smoke subsides, Seviper jumps up, about to use Poison Tail. However, Donphan uses a rock to catapult itself up in the air, hitting Seviper and Seviper is knocked out due to the combination of Rollout and the flames from the Flamethrower. Ash is happy of his first victory but Barbara cheers Lucy up when she's getting started, followed by Brock's cheer. May wonder of Brock's cheering and Brock realizes it and decides to cheer both of them but Max pulls his ear again not wanting to see his head explode.
Lucy regains her ferocious battle spirit and sends out her second Pokémon, {{p|Milotic}}. Donphan quickly goes for a direct Take Down attack, despite Ash knowing he's leaving himself open for an attack. Lucy smiles and tell Milotic to use {{m|Hydro Pump}}, knocking Donphan out with just one hit. Ash sends Pikachu in as his second Pokémon. Brock says that if Milotic has any defensive move, this could be tougher than Ash expects. When Pikachu uses Thunderbolt attack on Milotic, Lucy lets the attack hit, shocking Ash. Milotic disperses the attack by its tail and hits Pikachu with Hydro Pump. Scott and Barbara explain that Lucy prefers offense moves rather than defensive moves. Brock displays his love speech towards Lucy again and said both of them make a perfect couple, while Barbara shouts at Brock and her two friends pout, although Lucy blushes happily. Impressed of her battle skills, Ash tells Pikachu to use {{m|Iron Tail}}, but is pushed away by Milotic's Iron Tail attack. Pikachu then uses {{m|Quick Attack}}, but Milotic uses {{m|Twister}} and Hydro Pump consecutively. As Milotic is about to use Iron Tail Pikachu uses {{m|Volt Tackle}}, making a huge hit for Milotic. Before Pikachu can use Quick Attack to finish it off, Milotic pushes it aside and knocks Pikachu back. Thinking of the next move, Ash tells Pikachu to uses Thunderbolt on himself. Barbara says that he can't win so he is taking himself down. Lucy commands Milotic to use Twister, but Ash claims that this was what he was waiting for. Ash tells Pikachu to head into the Twister. Ash says to use Volt Tackle at maximum power. Pikachu heads down the Twister and collides into Milotcs' tail, causing an explosion. Milotic falls to the ground, surrounded by static and knocked out. The referee renders Milotic unable to battle and victoy goes to Ash. Brock and Scott go over what happened at the end and why it was so effective.Lucy and Ash shake hands and thank each other for a great battle. For winning, Lucy awards Ash the Luck Symbol.

Wondering of his strategy, Milotic uses Twister at Pikachu but this was Ash's plan as Pikachu manages to goes through the Twister attack. Pikachu uses a maximized Volt Tackle attack at Milotic, knocking it out due to the attack, making Ash the winner of this battle.
Scott reminds Ash that his next battle will be at the Battle Palace. Max checks the location on his PokéNav. May tells them that they haven;t travelled across water for a while now. Brock grasps Lucys' hands and asks if she would consider joining them. Max holds him by the ear and drags him away. Ash announces that they have to leave, and Scott, Barbara and her friends wave goodbye. Lucy watches them and blushes.


The gang is amazed and Brock and Scott explains how his strategy works in defeating Lucy's Milotic. Scott is impressed of his strategy while Barbara and her friends are sad of her loss. As both meet face to face, they congratulate towards each other and Ash is presented with his newly obtained Frontier Symbol, the Luck Symbol, by Lucy. As it turns into evening, Scott informs Ash that his next battle takes places at the Battle Palace while Max begins to analyze the PokéNav and finds out that it is located near Seafoam Island. Brock then tells her if she wants to travel with him and shows his never-ending love for Lucy but again Max pulls his ear and pulls him away. As Lucy, Barbara and her friends waves them goodbye to Ash and the gang, Lucy begins to blush again towards the affection given from Brock. Later, Lucy was seen in her home greeted by Skitty and various other Pokémon as her face then begins to turn cherry red as she tells them that he met a guy (Brock) who has the same cute eyes she likes as they have. While Brock still falls in love with Lucy while looking at the ocean in the ship, Ash is waiting for his next battle while May is waiting for her next ribbon contest.
The scene changes then to Lucy arriving back to her house where she is greeted by various Pokémon. She hugs them and blushes once more, saying how she met someone today that reminded her of them. The episode ends with the gang on a ship heading for Seafoam Island, contemplating what the next Frontier Brain will be like.

Lucy regains her ferocious battle spirit and sends out her second Pokémon, Milotic. Donphan quickly goes for a direct Take Down attack, despite Ash knowing he's leaving himself open for an attack. Lucy smiles and tell Milotic to use Hydro Pump, knocking Donphan out with just one hit. Ash sends Pikachu in as his second Pokémon. Brock says that if Milotic has any defensive move, this could be tougher than Ash expects. When Pikachu uses Thunderbolt attack on Milotic, Lucy lets the attack hit, shocking Ash. Milotic disperses the attack by its tail and hits Pikachu with Hydro Pump. Scott and Barbara explain that Lucy prefers offense moves rather than defensive moves. Brock displays his love speech towards Lucy again and said both of them make a perfect couple, while Barbara shouts at Brock and her two friends pout, although Lucy blushes happily. Impressed of her battle skills, Ash tells Pikachu to use Iron Tail, but is pushed away by Milotic's Iron Tail attack. Pikachu then uses Quick Attack, but Milotic uses Twister and Hydro Pump consecutively. As Milotic is about to use Iron Tail Pikachu uses Volt Tackle, making a huge hit for Milotic. Before Pikachu can use Quick Attack to finish it off, Milotic pushes it aside and knocks Pikachu back. Thinking of the next move, Ash tells Pikachu to uses Thunderbolt on himself. Barbara says that he can't win so he is taking himself down. Lucy commands Milotic to use Twister, but Ash claims that this was what he was waiting for. Ash tells Pikachu to head into the Twister. Ash says to use Volt Tackle at maximum power. Pikachu heads down the Twister and collides into Milotcs' tail, causing an explosion. Milotic falls to the ground, surrounded by static and knocked out. The referee renders Milotic unable to battle and victoy goes to Ash. Brock and Scott go over what happened at the end and why it was so effective.Lucy and Ash shake hands and thank each other for a great battle. For winning, Lucy awards Ash the Luck Symbol.

Scott reminds Ash that his next battle will be at the Battle Palace. Max checks the location on his PokéNav. May tells them that they haven;t travelled across water for a while now. Brock grasps Lucys' hands and asks if she would consider joining them. Max holds him by the ear and drags him away. Ash announces that they have to leave, and Scott, Barbara and her friends wave goodbye. Lucy watches them and blushes.

The scene changes then to Lucy arriving back to her house where she is greeted by various Pokémon. She hugs them and blushes once more, saying how she met someone today that reminded her of them. The episode ends with the gang on a ship heading for Seafoam Island, contemplating what the next Frontier Brain will be like.
