Pokémon Diamond & Pearl: Galactic Battles is the twelfth season of the Pokémon anime, following up to the eleventh season. It is the third season of the Diamond & Pearl series.
It should be noted that the concept of seasons does not exist in Japan, where episodes of Pokémon air nearly every Thursday. An invention of the American broadcast industry, a season is typically aired new for nine months out of the year, with three months (usually during the summer) taken off to begin production for the next season, during which reruns air. In Japan, no differentiation is made between this and any other seasons in the Diamond & Pearl series. But because there was a Clip Show, DP120, it was skipped, so in reality, only 51 episodes will air in the US, similarly to Season 10.
It began with the dub of Get Your Rotom Running!, and is expected to conclude with DP156. This would give it 52 episodes, like the other two Diamond & Pearl seasons.
Important events
- Ash defeats Byron in a gym battle after meeting Roark again. (DP108)
- Ash and friends meet Riley at the Iron Island. Mars, along with some Team Galactic Grunts, attack the Iron Island to make a scan of Mt. Coronet in search of Spear Pillar. Professor Carolina reappears to study the island. (DP110/DP111)
- Dawn wins her fourth ribbon in the Chocovine Contest, after battling with a girl named Ursula. (DP114)
- Ash defeats Candice in a gym battle. (DP127)
- Ash and Paul have their first full battle. (DP131-DP132)
