This is a list of all key items that are found in Generation IV. Note that some of these items--notably the Azure Flute, Membership Card, and Oak's Letter--cannot yet be obtained legitimately in English-language games.

List of key items in Generation IV

Azure Flute

  • Purpose: Plays a melody that's beyond this world; opens the stairway to Arceus.
  • Description:
  • Location: The Azure Flute has not yet been made obtainable but it is assumed Nintendo will host Events for this purpose.

Bicycle

  • Purpose: Allows for faster travel than walking or running. You can press B to change between the 2 gear settings.
  • Description: A folding Bicycle that enables much faster movement than the Running Shoes.
  • Location: Given to you by the owner of Rad Rickshaw's Cycle Shop in Eterna City after saving him from Team Galactic.

Coin Case

  • Purpose: Used for storing Coins from Veilstone Game Corner.
  • Description: A case for holding Coins obtained at the Game Corner. It holds up to 50,000 Coins.
  • Location: Given to you by a clown in Veilstone City.

Coupon 3

  • Purpose: Coupons needed to obtain the Pokétch.
  • Description: A coupon to be exchanged for a Pokémon Watch (Pokétch for short). Three coupons are needed.
  • Location: Each of these is given to you by a different clown in Jubilife City. They all have the same sprite, description, and function. You do not need to collect them in order.

Explorer Kit

  • Purpose: Used for going into the Sinnoh Underground.
  • Description: A bag filled with convenient tools for exploring. It provides access to the Underground.
  • Location: Given to you by the Underground Man in Eterna City.

Fashion Case

Galactic Key

  • Purpose: Opens the door to the Team Galaxy HQ in Veilstone City.
  • Description: A card key for disengaging security systems in the Galactic HQ. Losing it can result in punishment, apparently.
  • Location: You can find this in Veilstone City's Galactic Building basement.

Good Rod

  • Purpose: Allows the player to fish in bodies of water. Better than the Old Rod.
  • Description: A new, good-quality fishing rod. Use it by any body of water to fish for wild aquatic Pokémon.
  • Location: You can get this from a fisherman on Route 209.

Journal

  • Purpose: Records limited notes on daily gamplay. It is brought up automatically when returning to the game after 2 or more days have passed without making a new save.
  • Description: A notebook that keeps a day-to-day record of your adventure so far.
  • Location: Your mother will give this to you in Twinleaf Town.

Lunar Wing

  • Purpose: Give to the child of a sailor in Canalave City to wake him from his nightmare. You will then have access to both Iron Island and Fullmoon Island, and Cresselia will randomly appear in grassy patches across the map.
  • Description:
  • Location: This will be left behind on Fullmoon Island after encountering Cresselia.

Membership Card

  • Purpose: A 50-year old key for accessing the motel in Canalave City; allows access to battle Darkrai.
  • Description:
  • Location: The Membership Card was obtainable at an official Nintendo Event in Japan. As of yet it has not been made available in other countries.

Oak's Letter

  • Purpose: A letter from Professor Oak to be taken to Route 224; allows access to battle Shaymin.
  • Description:
  • Location: Oak's Letter has not yet been made obtainable but it is assumed Nintendo will host Events for this purpose.

Old Charm

Old Rod

  • Purpose: Allows the player to fish in bodies of water.
  • Description: An old and beat-up fishing rod. Use it by any body of water to fish for wild aquatic Pokémon.
  • Location: A fisherman in western Jubilife City will give this to you.

Pal Pad

  • Purpose: Stores your friends' Friend Codes.
  • Description: A convenient notepad that is used for registering your friends and keeping a record of game play.
  • Location: You can get this in Oreburgh City's Pokémon Center.

Parcel

  • Purpose: A package to deliver to your rival. When you give it to him, he will give you the Town Map.
  • Description: A parcel entrusted in your care. You are supposed to deliver it to your childhood friend who left Twinleaf Town.
  • Location: Given to you in Twinleaf Town by your rival's mom.

Poffin Case

Point Card

  • Purpose: Stores the Battle Points you earn in the Battle Tower.
  • Description: A card that lists the Battle Points you have earned.
  • Location: Given to you upon entering the Battle Park.

Poké Radar

  • Purpose: Locates hidden Pokémon in the grass; requires 50 steps to charge after use.
  • Description: A tool that can search out Pokémon that are hiding in grass. Its battery is recharged as you walk.
  • Location: Professor Oak gives this to you in Sandgem Town after completing the National Dex.

Seal Case

  • Purpose: Stores the Seals you collect or buy throughout the game. These can be used to create custom animations for when your Pokémon leaves its Poké Ball during battle.
  • Description: A case for storing Seals that can be applied to the capsule cases of Poké Balls.
  • Location: A woman in eastern Solaceon Town will give this to you.

SecretPotion

Sprayduck

  • Purpose: Used to water planted Berries. If watering is done correctly, the resulting Berry Trees will have more Berries to pluck.
  • Description: A watering can shaped like a PSYDUCK. It helps promote healthy growth of Berries planted in soft soil.
  • Location: You can get this from Floaroma Town's Pick a Peck of Colors Flower Shop.

Storage Key

  • Purpose: Opens the door to the Team Galaxy Warehouse.
  • Description: The key to Team Galactic's sinister warehouse located at the edge of Veilstone City.
  • Location: Veilstone City.

Suite Key

Super Rod

  • Purpose: Allows the player to fish in bodies of water. Best Rod of all.
  • Description: An awesome, high-tech fishing rod. Use it by any body of water to fish for wild aquatic Pokémon.
  • Location: A fisherman on Route 225 will give this to you.

Town Map

  • Purpose: Displays a map of Sinnoh and your current location. Details of routes and cities can be accessed by the touch screen.
  • Description: A very convenient map that can be viewed anytime. It even shows your present location.
  • Location: Your rival will give this to you in Jubilife City after you deliver the parcel.

Vs Seeker

  • Purpose: Allows the player to to challenge Trainers more than once; requires 100 steps to recharge after use.
  • Description: A device that indicates Trainers who want to battle. Its battery charges while you walk.
  • Location: Your rival will give this to you on Route 207.

Works Key

  • Purpose: The key for accessing the Valley Windworks.
  • Description: A large key for operating the doors of the Valley Windworks in the canyon. It was held by a Team Galactic Grunt.
  • Location: An old man will give this to you in the Floaroma Meadow.
