Satoshi is the main character of the Pokémon Zensho manga and directly based on Red of the original games. Like his counterparts, he is Shigeru's rival.

History

Satoshi first appears in Prologue: Pallet Town, as he began his journey the same day Shigeru did. He starts off with Charmander while Shigeru starts off with Squirtle. Satoshi ends up defeating Shigeru in their first battle.

After Satoshi obtained all eight Badges, he challenges the Pokémon League where he was able to sweep through the Elite Four quickly and challenges Shigeru as he became the champion.

After Satoshi saves Shigeru's life from a falling pillar caused from their final battle in the Pokémon League, they renew their friendship and set out to capture Mewtwo.

Personality and characteristics

Satoshi has saved many people from dangerous situations such as when he rescued Misty from Team Rocket and Shigeru from a falling pillar.

Trivia

  • He shares his name with Ash Ketchum from Pokémon anime. However, he is based on Red, not Ash, so his name actually comes from the optional names from game, not the anime hero's name. A similar situation applies to Shigeru, Satoshi's rival and Haruka from Pokémon Chamo-Chamo ☆ Pretty ♪.
  • Unlike in the games (where winning is necessary to proceed), Satoshi suffers a complete loss against Shigeru in their second rematch after having all eight Badges.
  • As opposed to Ash's Pikachu in the anime, Satoshi's Pikachu in this version voluntarily used a Thunderstone on itself in preparation for the battle against the Elite Four.
