Will Static have effect on Template:Type2 Pokémon or will they be immune to it? File:Ani448MS.gifJmathFile:Ani447MS.gifTalkFile:Ani448MS.gif 18:53, 11 December 2007 (UTC)

I know that Static worked on Template:Type2s in Generation III. Not sure if it's still true for Generation IV...--Shiningpikablu252 21:28, 11 December 2007 (UTC)
I remember this happening, and thinking it shouldn't. Upon testing this out, crushing poor Pichu and Pikachu with my Garchomp, I was indeed paralyzed by Static. --ZellMurasame 22:27, 11 December 2007 (UTC)

Can Static work the other way? Like can Pikachu use a physical attack on the opponent and still paralyse them? File:Ani448MS.gifJmathFile:Ani447MS.gifTalkFile:Ani448MS.gif 20:06, 13 December 2007 (UTC)

Paralysis chance stacking

If a Pokémon with this ability uses a move like Spark (which makes contact and also has a paralysis chance of 30%), does the paralysis chance stack, making the paralysis chance 60%?--Fungusface 06:22, 26 May 2010 (UTC)

When Pokémon with this ability are hit by a move that makes contact, there is a 30% chance that the attacking foe will become paralyzed. i.e. they can't stack. It only activates when the Pokémon with this ability is attacked, not when it is attacking. Werdnae (talk) 06:48, 26 May 2010 (UTC)
I could have sworn that there was a chance that if the Pokémon with static made a physical attack (i.e. makes contact with the foe) then then the foe would be paralysed (This is what Fungusface is referring to anyway). This fits better with "Contact with the Pokémon may cause paralysis" description which makes no explicit difference between being attacked and attacking.--Beligaronia (talk) 07:00, 26 May 2010 (UTC)
I've just done some quick testing in Pt. Raichu fainted after getting in 16 Quick Attacks (after I revived it once) in a double battle. None of the foes were paralyzed by Static with Quick Attack, but all were eventually paralyzed by hitting Raichu. Once they were paralyzed I knocked them out with my other, higher leveled Pokémon, which was taking most of the attacks. By my maths the chances of the foes not getting paralyzed after 16 attacks is 0.00332, or just over 3 in 1000. I'll go test it one more time, but it seems like they can't. Werdnae (talk) 07:44, 26 May 2010 (UTC)
And I've now finished the second round of testing, and this time I got in 23 attacks, giving 39 in total. None of these attacks caused paralysis. The chance of this occuring if static could paralyze the defender is 0.0000009095, or just less than one in a hundred thousand. Personally that chance is enough for me to say it can't work that way, especially given that several foes got paralyzed by Static when they attacked Raichu. (EDIT: fixed a typo and a power of ten error. It's one in a hundred thousand, not one in a million 08:15, 26 May 2010 (UTC))Werdnae (talk) 08:09, 26 May 2010 (UTC)
Sorry to doubt you, and to cause you so much extra work. Thank you for being so conscientious in checking the information.Beligaronia (talk) 08:29, 26 May 2010 (UTC)
