Welcome

Welcome to Bulbapedia, Dry Bones!

As a new user, you may wish to learn a few things that will be useful in your editing:

  • For a basic overview of wiki code, see this page.
  • The manual of style is very important. Make sure to read it. It outlines all official policies of Bulbapedia.
  • Keep an eye on the Messages from the Editor on the main page, to stay informed on current events on Bulbapedia.
  • The word Pokémon is spelled with a capital P and an accented é. The é can be accessed by holding Alt and typing either 130 or 0233 on a Windows computer, and by using Option + e, then e again on a Mac. Otherwise, you can easily click it in the character palette below the editbox.
  • The word Poké Ball is spelled as two words. The "Poké" part is identical to the four beginning letters in "Pokémon"; "Ball" is spelled with a capital B. The spelling "Pokéball" arises frequently, but is incorrect.
  • The word "you" and all forms of it should not be used on encyclopedic pages unless it is a quote from Pokémon or other media. Bulbapedia is an encyclopedia, not a walkthrough.
  • On talk pages, please sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).
  • The use of link templates is official policy. For an explanation on their use, see the page on shortlinks.
  • If you happen to spot a vandal in the recent changes that has not been dealt with, please see this page for how to deal with it.
  • A list of pages that are linked to, but have not been created, can be found at this page. A list of short articles that may require more information can be found here, while a list of articles that need improvement can be found here.
  • For a future capture, release, trade, or evolution of a Pokémon belonging to a main character of the anime, please do not create or move the page to reflect your suspicions, even if they are shared by many others. Policy here is to wait until the episode in which the event happens takes place is aired, unless there is substantial evidence for the suspicion (such as Brock's Happiny being held in his arms).
  • Image uploading is done on Bulbagarden Archives, a separate wiki accessible through the toolbox in the sidebar. This is done so that both Bulbapedia and Bulbanews have access to the images uploaded. To activate your account at the Archives and Bulbanews, please login there using the same username and password you use here on Bulbapedia.
  • If you want to make a page about a character you made up, please create it at User:Dry Bones/Archive I/(name), not merely (name). Bulbapedia's main namespace is reserved for actual, official Pokémon, items, characters, and locations. Also, please try to make sure that subpages are not categorized by templates used within.
  • Having said this, please make sure that you do contribute adequately to the main namespace. Bulbapedia is not MySpace or Facebook.
  • A list of the admins that you can contact in case of a problem can be found here.

Thank you, and have a good time editing here! --TESHIGIGAS 22:32, 2 July 2008 (UTC)

You know...

Spiritomb's not a one-per-game Pokémon. Not even close, unlike Rotom, because you can get more Odd Keystones. Both can breed anyway, though.

And don't forget to capitalize and accent Pokémon properly! Shift and p, Alt and 130 or 0233! TTEchidna 22:33, 14 July 2008 (UTC)

And don't put speculation on any pages.--☆Coolピカチュウ! 01:02, 30 August 2008 (UTC)

speculation?Dry Bones 01:53, 18 October 2008 (UTC)

Meaning stuff that isn't official or proven true. Gligar 21:44, 24 October 2008 (UTC)

And the grammar...

"Don't look nothing like" is a HUGE grammar mistake and just makes you sound really dumb. Plz to be using better grammar than that TTEchidna 21:42, 30 September 2008 (UTC)

I can't get my grammer correct.....that is the reason it is one of my WORST subjects. - unsigned comment from Dry Bones (talkcontribs)
Grammar isn't a subject. It's part of a subject called English. Θρtιmαtum♏Talk|Links
you can't even get your speling right either:

Lookie here Optimatum, were I went to school, spelling and grammer are two DIFFERENT subjects.Dry Bones 20:49, 13 October 2008 (UTC)

Dude, sign your comments with ~~~~. Not that hard.--Kkllnn blastoise 21:57, 10 October 2008 (UTC)

Pokemon T's and F's

People think I'm dumb, but I'm an expert on Pokemon. Like for xample: Can Rotom go to the move tutor? In Pokémon Platinum only. For futher details; see Rotom.

Another possibly common question: Q:How do I beat the Sunset Colessuem in Pokémon Battle Revolution? A:Um, all I can say is know what moves are effective.Plus there only 4 battles.Dry Bones 22:39, 14 October 2008 (UTC)

If you have a Pokémon question, go to the Pokémon's page. If your awnser(I can't spell worth crap) isn't there put it above.Dry Bones 22:23, 14 October 2008 (UTC)

You put this on your user page, not talk page... ht14 22:41, 14 October 2008 (UTC)

What on where?Dry Bones 21:15, 16 October 2008 (UTC)

User page. See that red link you always should sign with? You can make a page about yourself there (3 edits a day, though). Gligar 21:28, 16 October 2008 (UTC)

How do ya put them cool things on your User page?Dry Bones 21:44, 16 October 2008 (UTC)

Usertags and User tags--Kkllnn blastoise 21:47, 16 October 2008 (UTC)

What are those?Dry Bones 22:25, 17 October 2008 (UTC)

Click the blue links and find out. Gligar 22:25, 17 October 2008 (UTC)

What blue links? the User tags and Usertags Dry Bones 01:49, 18 October 2008 (UTC)(talkcontribs)

yup.--Kkllnn blastoise 22:29, 17 October 2008 (UTC)

A. Not Myspace(see above)You put your "ur"'s on Myspace... B. *nervous breakdown*(I get these when bossed around) C. How do I paste Usertags tro my page????Dry Bones 01:49, 18 October 2008 (UTC)

Ht14 & Gligar, WHAT ON WHERE? not just where...Dry Bones 01:51, 18 October 2008 (UTC)

Someone help me out here. You paste a usertag by finding its name. For example if you want to add the usertag User Virgo, which means you are a Virgo in the horoscope, write it just as it is as you see it, including the surrounding {{}}. If you want to add {{User Diamond}}, which means you play Pokémon Diamond, do the same. Is that so hard? Gligar 22:43, 22 October 2008 (UTC)

I just copy & paste??? AND where do i get the codes to plop 'em on??? Dry Bones 21:07, 23 October 2008 (UTC)

Umm...what're you talking about? You put the codes on the USERPAGE. ht14 21:09, 23 October 2008 (UTC)
Where do I get them?Dry Bones 21:48, 23 October 2008 (UTC)
Didn't they tell you? Oh well... go to the Search Bar. Say you're searching for User Virgo. Type in User Template:User Virgo. You'll be able to go to it. - unsigned comment from Ht14 (talkcontribs)

Do I just type in the thing...? But my favorite food is macaroni&cheese. do I put in User Template:User Macaroni And Cheese?Dry Bones 21:48, 23 October 2008 (UTC)

This is not freaking hard. Edit User Virgo onto your userpage exactly as you see it right now if you're a virgo. There's a whole directory of usertags that exist at this page. They range from {{User Diamond}} to {{User Mac OS X}}. We're sorry, we don't have one on Mac & Cheese. Just paste it or type it yourself on your userpage. I'm gonna have to start bolding stuff so you take it in. Not trying to be rude here. Gligar 22:09, 23 October 2008 (UTC)
If you want me to help you, I'll be willing to sacrifice my 3 edits on my page to help you. Just a warning, that means you have 3 less edits on your page (in other words, zero). Or, I could just edit your page ONCE, and you'll still have 2 wonderful edits to use. Just tell me the templates you see fit. ht14 22:20, 23 October 2008 (UTC)

Before ANYONE asks this question:Are you blind?. No, I'm not blind AND I STILL HAVE NOT GOTTEN AN ANSWER TO MY MAIN QUESTION:DO I COPY 7 PASTE?. What the---- is wrong with ya Gligar!? Dry Bones 22:21, 23 October 2008 (UTC)

Oh. My. God. Gligar 00:12, 24 October 2008 (UTC)
By the way, I never called you blind. You just appear to not listen to things we say. Gligar 00:14, 24 October 2008 (UTC)

What's with stayin' up till past midnight??? Oh,( don't wanna forget) I'm not mad, I'm not going beserk & I'm not gonna forget to sign my comments ANYMORE.Dry Bones 20:25, 24 October 2008 (UTC)

There's a thing called "time zones". Gligar 21:10, 24 October 2008 (UTC)

I'm not in third grade. The time that shows after I sign my comments is 4 hours fast.Dry Bones 21:15, 24 October 2008 (UTC)

If that's the case, wouldn't you have realized I actually edited at your time zone's 8:14 last night? Gligar 21:21, 24 October 2008 (UTC)

Sorry for my mistake...& with you sayin' that: A. you live in the eastern time zone B. our computers are messed up.Dry Bones 21:29, 24 October 2008 (UTC)

  • If you want to make two seperate lines, use a * in front of the line. That little bluish dot will show up.
  • You can do it more than once so you can make it fancy.
  • Our computers aren't messed up just because Bulbapedia follows one time zone.
  • I didn't give you my time zone, you actually gave me yours. I could have been awake at any point during my zone when I edited.
  • Gligar 21:34, 24 October 2008 (UTC)

Aguments and comments

1. everyone knows that. 2. SIGN YOUR COMMENTS!!! 3. é, not e. Like it says in your welcome message:The word Pokémon is spelled with a capital P and an accented é. The é can be accessed by holding Alt and typing either 130 or 0233 on a Windows computer, and by using Option + e, then e again on a Mac. Otherwise, you can easily click it in the character palette below the editbox. 4. when the contractions to your edit to Hippowdon are removed, it makes it sound like "At the end of it is cry, it has the sound of moving sand." Use its, not it's.--Kkllnn blastoise 21:55, 13 October 2008 (UTC)
The cry of Hippowdon is Hippowdon's(it's) cry. Oh, IT IS GRAMMER, NOT EATING CARROTS, YOU IDIOT!!!Dry Bones 22:23, 14 October 2008 (UTC)
Whoops, my bad. Sorry.--Kkllnn blastoise 22:06, 13 October 2008 (UTC)
Despite that, SIGN WITH THE TILDES!!! See? With my ~~~~, it comes out to be ht14 22:08, 13 October 2008 (UTC). Amazing how that works...ht14 22:08, 13 October 2008 (UTC)
It's = it is, regardless of what you want to say. Its is the proper possessive for it, no matter what. Don't care that there's an apostrophe in the possessive of the noun that it stands in for. You wouldn't say something belonging to Ash (him) is "him's", nor something belonging to Dawn is "her's". His and hers, mine and yours. Homophones suck as much as homophobes, but you gotta recognize the difference.
Also, grammar is the use of a language, Grammer is an actor. And I was pretty bad at the first one until a few years ago. You have to work to improve it. Look up the rules of language on TOW or something— they're actually pretty interesting... especially if you were to use nigh-unused grammatical tenses. TTEchidna 22:09, 13 October 2008 (UTC)

Look, my grammer is like getting 2+2 wrong. Can we all agree on that, OK? And, Kkllnn, when you put, "The word Pokémon is spelled with a capital P and an accented é. The é can be accessed by holding Alt and typing either 130 or 0233 on a Windows computer, and by using Option + e, then e again on a Mac. Otherwise, you can easily click it in the character palette below the editbox," you didn't put quotes. When using what someone else said with exactly the same words you say "quote" ,or when typing; put some quotes.Dry Bones 22:23, 14 October 2008 (UTC)

Don't talk about other's problems when we were talking about yours... ht14 22:37, 14 October 2008 (UTC)

Ht14, I'm 11 years old, and I've made has many mistakes has a the number of times I don't use my head, and thats a BIG number of times. I betcha my brother screwed with some of my pronouns...Dry Bones 01:41, 18 October 2008 (UTC)

I'm supposed to say what to that? I'm confused... ht14 22:17, 22 October 2008 (UTC)

Your confused...well take an Asprin!Dry Bones 20:28, 24 October 2008 (UTC)

*sigh*. Also, quotes don't have to be used in that sense. Gligar 21:17, 24 October 2008 (UTC)

Actully, in writing, they say that you put quotes around things if you're gonna use the same EXACT wording. Ya gettin' it through your head......yet?Dry Bones 21:33, 24 October 2008 (UTC)

Actually, this isn't a school project. You don't have to quote minor things that aren't copyrighted or from the exact same website. Gligar 21:35, 24 October 2008 (UTC)

Hi

I noticed you have been editing the User: namespace a lot today. You may not be aware of this, but Bulbapedia has a Userspace policy that asks users to try and minimize the number of userspace edits they make in a short period of time. Instead of making multiple edits, why not use the Preview button (Alt + Shift + P) located right next to the edit button to look at your page and see how it is coming? That way, your page can look great while staying within the required amount of edits. Instead of editing the userspace, as a wiki, we encourage users to edit the mainspace. So, if you edit the mainspace more often, you will be allowed to edit the userspace more. Thanks! --- Kogoro | Talk to me - 01:07, 11 April 2009 (UTC)

In the last 4 hours, you have made 11 userspace edits, to 1 mainspace edit. You have also not edited since November 2008. Please, take some time to read the above linked userspace policy. Thanks, - Kogoro | Talk to me - 01:07, 11 April 2009 (UTC)

Sorry. I didn't see the preview buttons. note:my signiture is wacked...I gotta fix it...I'll sign this later

Hey there

You need to check the box in your preferences to make your signature work. In addition, us the preview button before saving an edit. This prevents you from making thousands of tiny edits to a page, and will let you spot any mistakes you do make before you save it. Thanks. —darklordtrom 01:18, 14 July 2009 (UTC)

Userspace edits

Please remember that these are a privilege and are to be balanced with your contributions to articles. If you fail to cut back, you are at risk of losing the ability to edit any User: page. Read the userspace policy again, until you understand this. —darklordtrom 23:46, 14 July 2009 (UTC)

Go tell an admin that this is because I gotta log in 60 gazillion times a day because every time I change page, I get logged out, and, when I try to edit, it says that I am unable to do things. MOST importantly, these are done by what the admins have done, a user has already addressed this to TTEchidna. SO! Can you find someone to take care these problems so contributers can contribute what they have without the mass chaos of loging in, editing, then logging in again
                     Not liking these...DB 23:57, 14 July 2009 (UTC)
Trom is an administrator here, as am I. We're trying to get these issues fixed, so bear with us. But, these issues are not an excuse to violate the userspace policy. If you're having as many problems as you're saying you are, why not prep your edit in notepad, or a similar simple text editor, paste it into your userpage, preview it, then in the case of getting logged out, you still have all your work in the text editor? - Kogoro | Talk to me - 00:02, 15 July 2009 (UTC)

Ok, I didn't quite think of that. And, well, two questions:

    • How do I get a sidebar AND put usertags in it?
      • How do I create a box to show thing that I've in Pokémon Platinum?DB 00:09, 15 July 2009 (UTC)
Well considering you edited your userpage twelve times yesterday, you first show us you're here to help the encyclopedia by editing the mainspace at least that many times. After that... we'll see. —darklordtrom 21:32, 15 July 2009 (UTC)

The only thing I know that I can put is that Scizor is the most used Pokémon is competitive battlingDB 19:43, 21 July 2009 (UTC)

Admins, PLEASE read this

All of my edits made to the encyclopedia are something I know from a Pokémon game OR a conclusion. I'm good at drawing conclusions so that is how I edit. Thanks for reading this,

Um... is it necessary to message practically every active admin that Generation V is here? ht14 03:11, 11 February 2010 (UTC)

But, I FOUND COROCORO scans! I worked hard to get a hand on them! --DB 23:25, 11 February 2010 (UTC)

That be as may, what you did can be considered spamming which is a blockable offence. Consider this your only warning regarding behaviour of this kind. While we appreciate your scans, the admins do have their eyes and ears open at this time, and we watch the recent changes. You only need to make an announcement once, if ever. —darklordtrom 08:58, 13 February 2010 (UTC)

Ok! Sorry! --DB 16:39, 13 February 2010 (UTC)
