Iris's Excadrill (Japanese: アイリスのドリュウズ Iris's Doryuzu) is the second Pokémon that Iris was revealed to have. He first appeared in The Bloom Is on Axew!.
History
Excadrill was obtained by Iris before she started traveling with Ash, but she did not reveal that she had him until he appeared in The Bloom Is on Axew!.
After Iris's Axew got stuck in the horns of a wild Scolipede, both Cilan's Pansage and Ash's Snivy tried and failed to stop it. Reluctantly, Iris sent out Excadrill to help. But as soon as he came out, he stayed in his inactive state and refused to do anything. After Iris rescued Axew herself, Excadrill came to life and attacked Scolipede after Scolipede inadvertently kicked him. He easily defeated it and sent it flying off into the horizon. Excadrill cried out in victory before going back into his inactive state.
Iris sent out Excadrill to help out in BW020 when Ash and Pikachu went missing after falling down a hole. However Excadrill refused to help, remaining inactive and forcing Iris to recall him. He appeared again for a short time in BW027 to fend off a swarm of Swoobat, but as usual he just remained idle. He then fell for Emolga's Attract and was returned to his Poké Ball. Then in the next episode he was brought out by Emolga's Volt Change, but still did nothing.
Personality
Excadrill, just like Ash's Charizard and Dawn's Mamoswine, Excadrill does not always listen to it's trainer. It usually sleeps when Iris gives him a command. He seems to have little care for anything. In The Bloom is on Axew, Excadrill is shown to be very brave and strong to battle the wild Scolipede, but Excadrill only fought Scolipede because it was angry at it for kicking it. Nevertheless, Excadrill has the heart of a fighter.

Trivia
- Excadrill's behavior is much like Ash's Charizard and Dawn's Mamoswine who chose to loaf about instead of battling and only battled on their own terms. Coincidentally, both it and Mamoswine are Template:Type2 Pokémon.
- Of the three, Excadrill is the only one to not debut in its unevolved form, to be caught off-screen, and to not be part of a three-stage evolutionary line.
