Hidden items: observations

Looking at all the items on the Mirage Mountains, Islands, Forests, and Caves pages, it seems very likely that, for each type of Mirage spot (Mountain/etc), there is a set of three items that may appear as a hidden item on a location of that type. (The other types of spots make a pretty strong bid that that's the case. For Mountains here, the evidence is a bit weaker simply because no Mirage Mountain currently has (all) three hidden items listed, but you can still glimpse the pattern (there's only three different hidden items on the page, and they strongly mirror the Cave items).)

In a slight tangent, I also tried to check out all of the Mirage spots via "StreetPassing" on the PSS, and I saw 22 of the 32 spots, but the only one where I saw a hidden item was in my "native" Mirage spot. To me, that indicates you won't find hidden items on StreetPassed Mirage spots. (I suspect this is also the reason I didn't see a hidden item on the Crescent Isle I got from StreetPass.)

I think these things are true, so I'm going to edit them into these Mirage spot pages...but the only experience I have with "native" Mirage spots is today. So it's also entirely possible I'm jumping the gun, and that someone else has had experience that casts doubt on my theories. ...Anyone? Tiddlywinks (talk) 01:40, 12 March 2015 (UTC)

From my experiences, I'm pretty sure that hidden items only appear in your "native" Mirage Spot. I've not been checking mine constantly, but I've checked them fairly often. So I'm pretty certain that is the case. Voltdetector (talk) 01:52, 12 March 2015 (UTC)

Hidden items: questions

Maybe someone has the experience to answer these questions about the hidden items at Mirage spots:

  • Is there always a hidden item on your "native" Mirage spot? Yes

** If you're not sure, then do you know if you've seen the same hidden item more than once at the same Mirage spot (in the same game)?

    • Also, have you seen different hidden items at the same Mirage spot? Yes

(These below are kind of moot if the answer to the first one above is "yes".)

  • Is it possible for your "native" Mirage spot to appear with no hidden item?
    • If a given spot is appearing for the first time, will it always have a hidden item?
    • If the spot has appeared before...
      • Will there not be a hidden item? (The idea being that there was only ever one hidden item there, and it doesn't regenerate, ever.)
      • Or will the item always be different? (Perhaps a better way to put it: have you seen a repeat of a hidden item at a given Mirage spot? Part of the idea here is, maybe you can get one of each possible hidden item, no more and no less.)

Tiddlywinks (talk) 01:40, 12 March 2015 (UTC)

Somewhat amazingly, I got the same Mirage spot today as I had yesterday. And it seems I have the same (/respawned) hidden item: a Razor Claw. (I'm 95% sure I did pick up the hidden item the first day and save afterwards.) So, supposing I didn't screw something up, the only big remaining question for me is:
  • Can the hidden item be different? Or will it always be the same?
Tiddlywinks (talk) 01:39, 14 March 2015 (UTC)
I'll go ahead and answer my own question again. =P Yes, they can have different items. I kind of cheated the game by sitting on the Mirage Cave I got yesterday, and I found a different hidden item today than I did yesterday. Tiddlywinks (talk) 07:14, 15 March 2015 (UTC)
Just to clean this up, I guess: it appears that your "native" Mirage spot always has a hidden item (and no "imported" Mirage spot can), and that item can be one of three items completely randomly (although it's fixed insofar as you can't soft-reset it). The visible items (of course?) appear no matter if the Mirage spot is "native" or imported, though; unless of course you've already picked it up previously. Version Exclusive Pokemon

Are we positive there aren't any for the mirage locations? I've been going at it for months every single day in Omega Ruby and I've gotten all the island/forest/mountain/cave pokemon except for two: Maractus and Rufflet. Plenty of Vullaby mountains, but never Rufflet. - Xelrog T. Apocalypse (talk) 17:22, 8 July 2019 (UTC)

I have Alpha Sapphire and found both Vullaby and Rufflet. Guess you just have to keep trying. Suic (talk) 20:43, 20 July 2019 (UTC)

Move

I think this page should be moved to Mirage Mountain as discussed in Talk:Mirage Islands#Move and Talk:Mirage Caves#Move. These discussions are open since 2015. --Daniel Carrero (talk) 23:24, 31 August 2019 (UTC)

To elaborate, Bulbapedia:Manual of style says "In most cases, titles referring to a specific group should be kept singular, such as item rather than items. However, some exceptions are allowed when the group name is plural, such as Eevee brothers rather than Eevee brother."
Here are more examples where a page is about multiple things. The normal thing to do seems to be using the singular as said above.
