For upcoming games, only information from officially sanctioned sources should be added to Bulbapedia. Do not add leaked information, whether from third parties or your own play of a leaked game (whether digital or physical, if obtained before official release). The only exception is official preview or review play.
===Handling new leaks===
In the event of any new leak of materials, it may be wise to check with a {{bp|staff}} member before adding any info that might otherwise be eligible for coverage. Depending on the circumstances of the leak, Bulbapedia may wish to remain hands-off for some months to assess the risk of any coverage.

===Upcoming games===
If a cancelled game or game beta (pre-release build) has not been legally released, editors may only add information from officially released content (including first-party or via media interviews) regarding that product, or by referencing other websites which have published information from verifiable original research on the product.
For upcoming games, only information from officially sanctioned sources should be added to Bulbapedia. Please do not add leaked information, whether from unsanctioned third parties or your own play of a leaked game (whether digital or physical, if obtained before official release).

On a case-by-case basis, the staff may determine that a given product can be directly updated on Bulbapedia by citing original research (without referencing other websites). This decision will generally be made based on the product's relevancy and the scale, notoriety, and recency of the leak. Below is a list of cancelled games or game betas that have been approved as unrestricted. Refer to this page's talk page for questions about any other products.

Information such as stats and movesets should be kept on the beta/unreleased game's page and should not be added to Pokémon or other pages. Some more generic information (such as how a Pokémon developed) may warrant inclusion. Use your best judgement; if a piece of information is in dispute, staff will decide its notability.
===Demos===
A leaked demo that was playable at a public event may be covered in full (to the same extent as any other game). Since public knowledge already exposes some of its content, covering a leaked demo can enhance accuracy without relying on limited and imperfect first-hand accounts.

===Canceled games===
If a canceled game is leaked, its latest endpoint may be covered like any other game.

If source code has been leaked for a game, it may never be referenced on Bulbapedia. (Note that disassembly and decompilation projects are not the same thing and can be used as valid references.)

===Production leaks===
For upcoming TCG merchandise, leaks of cards and products that occur during the production process, such as theft or unauthorized photography from a printing facility, should not be covered on Bulbapedia.

BP:LEAK

This policy covers the treatment of "leaks" and similar unreleased materials that may concern subjects covered by Bulbapedia. This page currently addresses primarily game media. In the future, it may be expanded to cover other media.

Games media

Handling new leaks

In the event of any new leak of materials, it may be wise to check with a staff member before adding any info that might otherwise be eligible for coverage. Depending on the circumstances of the leak, Bulbapedia may wish to remain hands-off for some months to assess the risk of any coverage.

Upcoming games

For upcoming games, only information from officially sanctioned sources should be added to Bulbapedia. Please do not add leaked information, whether from unsanctioned third parties or your own play of a leaked game (whether digital or physical, if obtained before official release).

Pre-release builds

A leaked pre-release build of a Pokémon game may not be covered on Bulbapedia. Since they were not in wide public knowledge before being leaked and were not intended for consumption, Bulbapedia does not consider them to be part of its mission.

Demos

A leaked demo that was playable at a public event may be covered in full (to the same extent as any other game). Since public knowledge already exposes some of its content, covering a leaked demo can enhance accuracy without relying on limited and imperfect first-hand accounts.

Canceled games

If a canceled game is leaked, its latest endpoint may be covered like any other game.

Source code

If source code has been leaked for a game, it may never be referenced on Bulbapedia. (Note that disassembly and decompilation projects are not the same thing and can be used as valid references.)

TCG print media

Production leaks

For upcoming TCG merchandise, leaks of cards and products that occur during the production process, such as theft or unauthorized photography from a printing facility, should not be covered on Bulbapedia.
