Artwork by AKIRA EGAWA

AKIRA EGAWA (Japanese: 江川(えがわ)あきら Egawa Akira) is a freelance illustrator who has worked on the Pokémon series. She began illustrating cards in 2019 for the Pokémon Trading Card Game with Riolu, included in the Unified Minds expansion. She has also illustrated for Pokémon Masters EX, providing artwork for the Dreams of the Void event.

In addition to being an illustrator for cards themselves, EGAWA also illustrated booster pack artwork for the international releases of the Battle Styles, Chilling Reign, Evolving Skies, and Fusion Strike expansions. She was among the panel of judges for the Pokémon Trading Card Game Illustration Contest 2022.

EGAWA's art style focuses on giving the subject detailed textures, with the goal of making them look "cool". She has previous experience with 3D modelling, but she currently primarily creates illustrations by painting in Photoshop. Credits outside Pokémon include other mobile and card games such as Fate/Grand Order, Fire Emblem Heroes and Cipher, and the One Piece Card Game.[1]

EGAWA has been playing the Pokémon games since Generation II.[2]
