If you go to a mainspace article that isn't considered a stub (for example, by clicking "random page"), click on the first link in the article that links to a Bulbapedia page, isn't in italics, and isn't in parentheses, and repeat the previous step, you will eventually find yourself at the Bulbapedia article about Canada. It's true.

Anyway, I’m sumwun. (obviously, because people other than sumwun aren't supposed to edit this) My first experience with Pokémon was from the TCG. My first card was this Seadra, which I found lying around in my house. When I realized that a few of my friends had their own collections of Pokémon cards, I bought an actual set and started playing with them. A few years later, I got Pokémon Platinum Version (I would have gotten it much sooner if I hadn't spent so much on TCG sets). I decided that the games were better than the TCG, so I ended up giving all of my cards except that Seadra to my friends. I made an account on the Pokémon Database and I regularly use the Q&A and help new competitors in the Rate My Team. I don’t have time to breed for perfect IVs, so I battle on a simulator, specifically Pokémon Showdown!. I also like their banlists better than those of official tournaments (I don’t care if Rayquaza isn’t “mythical”; it’s game breaking). I think it would be pointless to put in information about which metagames I play, because that changes more often than I edit this page. Some time later, I got a copy of Pokémon Emerald Version, which I played on for more than 100 hours before realizing that it was fake. I did get a real cartridge eventually, which is my only other game at the time of writing. I’ve only played core series games so far, but I plan on starting my PMD: Blue Rescue Team sometime. As for Bulbapedia, it’s the best source of Pokémon information I’ve found so far. I tend to pay attention to detail, so most of my activity here consists of fixing unnoticeably tiny errors and adding random stuff to trivia sections.

Arguments that Pikachu should not be the mascot
Unseeable Pokémon
My main argument is that Pokémon started as the core series games. Pikachu doesn’t represent them very well, except for Pokémon Yellow Version. Pikachu only became important when the Pokémon anime started airing. The first episode was aired on April Fools day, so Pikachu’s status as mascot was probably just some kind of prank.
In Emerald, you can't register these Pokémon as "seen", even though they are on the Hoenn Pokédex.

* Sceptile

* Blaziken
* The mascot of Mario is Mario. The mascot of The Legend of Zelda is Link. The mascot of Kirby is Kirby. The mascot of Donkey Kong is Donkey Kong. In case you don’t see a pattern, the mascots for all these games are one of their playable characters. However, Red has no superpowers, so it would make more sense for the mascot to be a Pokémon. The closest that a Pokémon could ever get to being a playable character would probably be the starter Pokémon, since they’re both titular and obtained at the beginning of each game. Thus, I think it would make sense if all three Kanto starters could be mascots. Of course, they’d have to be roughly balanced in terms of both usefulness and popularity.
* Swampert

* Shedinja

* Swalot
* If some Pokémon were to permanently be a mascot, it should represent some concept that doesn’t change. Of course, the thing that never changes is the past. Rhydon would be a good choice because it was the first Pokémon, thus a good representation of the past.
* Vibrava

* Lileep

* Anorith
* Other concepts that at least should never become less significant are battling and evolution. No matter what you’re doing with Pokémon, whether you’re playing a core series game, a spinoff game, the Trading Card Game, watching the TV show, or reading one of the manga series, both battling and evolution are very important and intriguing concepts. A good mascot to represent the former would be Magikarp. It’s one of the weakest Pokémon, but becomes better at battling through battling. A good mascot to represent the latter would be Eevee, which is literally the evolution Pokémon.
* Igglybuff

* Pichu

* Raichu
Feel free to tell me that I’m wrong, but please tell me why. That way, I can find and fix flaws in my logic and win more arguments.
* Wynaut

* Donphan

* Huntail
Changes that I think would make competitive battling more balanced
* Gorebyss
* All Pokémon that have a BST less than 410 and can’t evolve further, have no mega evolution(s) should get either an added evolution, a Mega Evolution, or a base stat boost that raises their BST to 410. I think 410 is the minimum for fully evolved Pokémon because the strongest non-legendary Pokémon, which have BSTs of 600, evolve from Pokémon with BSTs of a maximum of 410. Thus, 410 should be the maximum for not-fully-evolved Pokémon, and the minimum for the Pokémon that are fully evolved.
* Beldum
* All fully evolved Pokémon, except for Thundurus, Landorus, and Pokémon in which neither base attack stat is 1/12 or more of its BST, will be able to learn a “viable” attack for all of its types in the damage category that in which it has the strongest attack stat. For example, black Kyurem should be able to learn a “viable” physical ice attack and a “viable” physical dragon attack, since those are its two types and its physical attack is stronger than its special attack. Here’s a table that lists the attacks I think are “viable”. If you want to know how I decided that these moves are "viable", ask me on my talk page. Yes. Dragonite with Drill Peck will be a thing.
* Metang
{| border="1" style="border-collapse:collapse"
Although Grimer can technically be found wild in the Fiery Path, it's very rare and isn't used by any trainers.

*Pokémon of the same species but with different abilities should be tiered separately, as separate forms. For example, Blaziken with Blaze should be allowed in some metagames where Blaziken with Speed Boost is banned.
*There should be a tiers system where every Pokémon is viable in at least one tier. Borderlines should be playable, and if a Pokémon becomes too strong for a borderline but not strong enough for the next tier, it moves to a borderline of a borderline. This would apply especially for Uber, where dozens of Pokémon aren’t viable there but are banned from OU. Yes. Powerful Legendary Pokémon will be banned to Uber Uber, and then to Uber Uber Uber, until each one has its own tier. Also, Pokémon should get automatically un-banned from borderlines if their usage falls below a certain amount.
*All attacks in which base power times average number of hits is less than 85 should be either 100% accurate or unable to miss.
