Casey's Meganium (Japanese: ナナコのメガニウム Nanako's Meganium) is Casey's first Pokémon. She obtained it as a Chikorita the day before Ash, Misty, and Brock arrived at Professor Elm's lab.

History

As a Chikorita
As a Bayleef

Original series

Casey first appeared with her Chikorita in The Double Trouble Header. It had just helped her to catch a Rattata when she met Ash and his friends. She challenged Ash to a Pokémon battle. Ash defeated all three of her Pokémon including Chikorita with his Charizard.

It reappeared in a flashback in The Chikorita Rescue.

Casey and her Chikorita were next seen in The Bug Stops Here. She and Ash were competing in the Bug-Catching Contest, despite having one disadvantage in the competition, Chikorita goes to the limit to help her Trainer to win. When Casey realizes what she is doing, Chicorita shows that Casey is important to her.

When they were attacked by Team Rocket, Casey used her Chikorita again, and during the battle, it evolved into Bayleef and sent Team Rocket blasting off. Despite everything, Casey and Bayleef are unable to win the competition.

When Ash and his friends met up with Casey again in Here's Lookin' at You, Elekid!, her Bayleef was now fully evolved into a Meganium. During the search for Ash's Larvitar, Meganium is one of the Pokémon affected by the power of James' newly acquired Weepinbell. Casey uses Meganium to defeat Jessie's Arbok, but despite his efforts it is no match for Jessie's Pokémon.

Later, Casey uses Meganium in a battle against a wild Elekid. Although Elekid is quite powerful, he is no match for the power of Meganium, who easily wins the battle. Which allows Casey to capture a new Pokémon.

Advanced Generation series

Meganium reappeared in A Date with Delcatty where it appears all the time on Casey's side while trying to find out about a mysterious note that Misty received, later, Meganium is used alongside Misty's Corsola in a Tag Battle against Butch's Mightyena and Cassidy's Sableye. Meganium and Corsola proves very powerful and can easily beat their opponents, in the end Meganium ends with a Solarbeam.

In Those Darn Electabuzz! Meganium joins Casey's Beedrill and his Elekid to stop the runaway Charizard from advancing. Despite their strength, the trio cannot keep the Fire-type Pokémon from advancing. Meganium later appears with the other Pokémon to cheer and help train the Pokémon of their trainer 's idol.

Personality and characteristics

Meganium and Casey

Meganium shares a close bond with Casey, often being seen outside of its Poké Ball. It appears to share Casey's fighting spirit and enjoys her renditions of the Electabuzz fight song. Meganium is also a fierce battler, evolving into a Bayleef so that it could help Casey during the Bug-Catching Contest.
