Release information
This card was initially created for Pokémon Trading Card Game for the Game Boy Color. A physical card was available in Japan as an insert with the Pokémon Card GB Official Guidebook. It has "GB" in the bottom right corner of the artwork to indicate it was created for the game. An English version of this card was available as an insert with the Pokémon Trading Card Game: Official Nintendo Player's Guide.
Trivia
The Card GB version of this card could only be obtained through Card Pop! and is the only card out of the two Phantom Cards to be actually produced. In the digital version of Pokémon Trading Card Game for the Nintendo 3DS however, Card Pop! is disabled, rendering this card unobtainable on that platform.
Origin
Solar Power is an Ability later introduced in the Generation IV Pokémon games that Venusaur cannot have; however, the Japanese names are different, making the two unrelated. Mega Drain is a move in the Pokémon games that Venusaur could learn via TM21 in Generation I. The card's English Pokédex entry comes from Pokémon Red and Blue, whereas the Japanese entry comes from Pokémon Red and Green.
