Suwama

(Japanese: スワマ Suwama) is the former Trainer of Ash's Tepig, serving as a character of the day in BW077.

History

Tepig being abandoned by Suwama

Suwama was first introduced in person in BW077 where he was in the Battle Club having a double battle, using Emboar and Heatmor, with Kensō that Ash and his his friends witnessed. Because of his preference for Fire-types, he refers to himself and his team as the "Fire Warriors". He won the battle rather easily. Afterwards he picked on Kensō, causing Ash and the others to confront him briefly.

While having lunch alone, Ash's Tepig saw him and ran up to him affectionately. It would turn out that he was the Trainer who had abandoned Tepig before the events of The Battle Club and Tepig's Choice!, abandoning him after he lost to a Deerling in a battle. Since Tepig kept trying to go with him, he had tied him to a post. Seeing Tepig with Ash, he told Ash that he abandoned it because of its uselessness, hitting Ash in the nerve.

To prove he is right, Suwama challenged Ash to a double battle. Ash decided to use Tepig and Snivy, however Tepig did not wish to battle against his former Trainer. He had the impression that Suwama still cared for him and only released him because he cared. However, it turned out that Suwama was only faking his kindness before and couldn't have cared less about Tepig. Although Snivy ended up defeated by a Flare Blitz/Fire Spin combination attack, Tepig managed to hang on and evolve into a Pignite in the process. Using its new attack, Fire Pledge, as well as a powerful Flame Charge, it was able to defeat both of its opponents. Impressed by Pignite's new power, Suwama asked it to come back to him, but Pignite simply responded by scorching his head with Flamethrower.

Emboar was first used in a double battle with Heatmor against Kensō's Watchog and Mienshao, seen standing up to Watchog's Slam, and heavily damaging the two Pokémon with Hammer Arm. He was used again against Ash's Tepig and Snivy. Although performing many powerful moves, including a combination of his Flare Blitz and Heatmor's Fire Spin, he was eventually knocked out by Ash's newly evolved Pignite. Emboar is probably a replacement for Suwama's released Tepig.

Emboar's known moves are Hammer Arm, Flamethrower, Heat Crash and Flare Blitz.

Heatmor was first used in a double battle with Emboar against Kensō's Watchog and Mienshao, seen standing up to Mienshao's Drain Punch, and serving the finishing blow on the two Pokémon with a Flame Burst. It was used again against Ash's Tepig and Snivy. Although performing many powerful moves, including a combination of Emboar's Flare Blitz and its own Fire Spin, it was eventually knocked out by Ash's newly evolved Pignite.

Heatmor's known moves are Flame Burst, Fury Swipes and Fire Spin.

Trivia

• Suwama's role in the anime is similar to previous original Trainers of Ash's Template:Type2 Pokémon: Charmander and Chimchar.
• Suwama abandoned Tepig in a very similar way as Template:Damian when he abandoned Charmander.
  • He also tryed to get Pignite back when he exceeded his expectations, mirroring Damian again.
