Effect
In battle
Generation I–III
Flash decreases the opponent's accuracy by 1 level.
Flash will do nothing if the opponent's accuracy level is at -6, and will fail if the opponent has a Substitute or is under the effect of Mist.
Flash's accuracy is 70% in these generations.
Generation IV
Flash's accuracy is raised to 100%. All other effects are the same.
Outside of battle
Outside of battle, Flash will illuminate dark caves. The effect will last until the player exits the cave. When the player re-enters the cave, it will be dark again.
Flash's influence as a field move has dropped during Generation IV, when it was turned into a standard TM, as there is only one area in Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum that has use for Flash.
In the anime
Ash's Aipom being blinded by Roserade's Flash. |
