Spider Web (Japanese: クモのす Spider Web) is a non-damaging Template:Type2 move introduced in Generation II.

Effect

Spider Web prevents the target from switching out. The effect applies as long as the user remains in battle. The target can still switch out by using Baton Pass, but in that case, the Pokémon that switches in will become trapped.

If the user switches out using Baton Pass, the effects of Spider Web will still apply to the target. Also, if the target is hit with Roar or Whirlwind, they will still be switched out.

In a wild Pokémon battle, Spider Web prevents the player from escaping, unless the player's Pokémon has Run Away.
