Chinatsu and Chiaki

(Japanese: チアキ Chiaki) is one of the characters of the day in DP076 of the Pokémon anime. He is voiced by 高橋研二 Kenji Takahashi in Japanese.

He appeared along with his sister, Chinatsu. Their father is the owner of the Seven Stars Restaurant on the Valor Lakefront. Trainers must battle him and his sister in a double battle in order to get into the restaurant.

Chiaki and Chinatsu first battled with Ash and Brock. They were both easily defeated by them. Then they were to battle May and Dawn. But before they could battle, Team Rocket broke in the restaurant and stole all the food. Chiaki was upset by this and wondered what his father would say.

After May and Dawn dealt with Team Rocket, Chiaki and Chinatsu started their battle with May and Dawn. They put up more of a fight than with Ash and Brock, but were still defeated in the end.

Trivia

  • Chiaki's name contains aki meaning autumn. His sister's name contains natsu meaning summer.
  • Both Chiaki and Chinatsu resemble the Rich Boy and Lady trainer classes, respectively. It's also possible that they were directly based off of two trainers that appear in the Seven Stars Restaurant in the games known as Roman and Kylie. Like in the anime, their father owns the Seven Stars Restaurant.
  • Also like Roman in the games, Chiaki owns an evolved form of his sister's baby Pokémon. Only Roman owns Sudowoodo and Kylie owns Bonsly.
