The Pokémon franchise first reached Greece in 1999 with the first airing of the anime, followed by the release of Pokémon Red and Blue Versions. All Pokémon games released in Europe have been released since then. Pokémon is written in Greek script as Πόκεμον.
Pokémon anime
The Pokémon anime is broadcasted in Greece on Star Channel. It still runs twice a week, currently being in the Diamond & Pearl series.
Pokémon movies
Pokémon the First Movie premiered in Greek cinemas on April 21, 2000.
Cast and crew
The lead role of Ash Ketchum is dubbed by Voula Costa (Βούλα Κώστα). Michaela Antoniou (Μιχαέλα Αντωνίου) gave her voice to several main female characters, including Misty, Jessie, Officer Jenny, and Nurse Joy. James is dubbed by Fotis Petridis (Φώτης Πετρίδης), while Meowth and Brock are both voiced by Haris Grigoropoulos (Χάρης Γρηγορόπουλος).
In the second season, Loukas Frangoulis (Λουκάς Φραγκούλης) joined the main cast as Tracey Sketchit. The new main female characters of the later series, May and Dawn, were both dubbed by Stella Bonatsou (Στέλλα Μπονάτσου).
Pokémon merchandise
Other Pokémon merchandise were available over times, including the first 15 chapters of Pokemon Adventures, split in 5 books, an official Pokémon Magazine, and various toys.
