Information
EX Team Magma vs Team Aqua is the name given to the fourth main expansion of the EX Series of the Pokémon Trading Card Game. In Japan, it was released as Magma VS Aqua: Two Ambitions, the only subset in the Pokémon Card Game ADV Era. It is based on Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire, featuring Generation III Pokémon and the two villainous team of the Hoenn region Team Magma and Team Aqua. The English expansion was released on March 15, 2004, while the Japanese subset was released on October 24, 2003.
EX Team Magma vs Team Aqua introduced dual-type Pokémon, in which Pokémon have a secondary type. Owner's Pokémon made its return.
The card design was visually enhanced for Pokémon belonging to their respective teams. Team Magma's Pokémon had curvy lines on the border of the artwork window, while Team Aqua's Pokémon had bubbles on it. The Pokémon type symbol on the top right corner of the card had a different base for each teams. Pokémon belonging to a team displayed their respective logos on the bottom right of the attack box. This was the final expansion to include the Dot-Code strip.
Box toppers also made its return, but they are now regular-sized and are Secret cards.
