Trivia

  • The opening animation is updated with all of Paul's Pokémon.
  • The ending is omitted in the original broadcast, with the credits moved to the opening instead (scrolling from right to left).
  • Music from Lucario and the Mystery of Mew, and a instrumental version of By Your Side ~Hikari's Theme~ are used as background music.
  • This marks the second time that a main character lost in the appeal round. The only previous time took an extreme amount of stupidity on the part of Jessie.
  • Technically, Dawn normally calls Johanna whether she won or lost any stage in a contest. Although Johanna told her not to call her, Johanna called but talked to Ash and Brock.
