Trivia

The footage in this segment is from Ash's battles with Roxanne, Flannery, Winona and Juan. The final shot is of the flame at the Ever Grande Conference.
  • Pokémon senryū: かてるまで なんどもちょうせん ポケモンジム Kateru made nando mo chōsen, Pokémon Jimu "Until you win, battle again and again; that is a Pokémon Gym."
  • Dawn narrates the next episode preview.
  • The dub title is a play off the dish Jambalaya and combining the two words Gym and liar.
  • Brock's Croagunk was caught similar to the way James's Mime Jr. and the majority of the ones Ash caught during the Indigo League were. There was no battle, and the Pokémon just wanted to be caught. Ironically, Brock got praised when he got Croagunk, whileas when Ash did it with most of the captures, he was bashed by both Misty and Brock.
  • Japanese text was left on the Croagunk card used by James.
  • In the English dub, Jessie (AKA Princess Powerzone) commands Croagunk to use Poison Sting, yet it used Brick Break.
  • Poison Jab appeared to hurt Scizor, who is part Steel. Steel Pokémon are immune to Poison moves. It is almost the same case, however, when Pikachu hurts a Ground-type Pokémon with Thunderbolt.
  • Jessie's Dustox uses Stun Spore in this episode, an attack that Dustox are not normally able to learn.
