Bonsly (Japanese: ウソハチ Usohachi) is a Rock-type Pokémon.
Bonsly's height is 0.5 meters (1'7"), and its weight is 15.0 kilograms (33 lbs).
Bonsly evolves into Sudowoodo.
Name origin
Bonsly's name is a combination of bonsai, miniature Japanese trees, and sly.
It's Japanese name could be a misspelling of 嘘っぱち usoppachi, downright lie. It could also be a combination of 嘘 uso, false, and 鉢 hachi, flowerpot, which might be more likely since it can use an attack called fake tears.
It may be based on petrified wood, plants which have become fossilized over time, placed into a flowerpot. Similarly, it may simply be modeled on the bonsai tree itself.
In the anime
Bonsly follows Ash and co. on their mission to rescue Pikachu in Mew and the Wave-Guiding Hero: Lucario.
Later, Brock captures a baby Bonsly and takes care of it.
Obtaining
Bonsly can be seen in Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness at a random Pokéspot after it is scared away from the S.S. Libra. When you return it to its trainer, you may use it in Battle Bingo with a Bonsly Card.
