Ambipom (Japanese: エテボース Eteboth) is a Template:Type2 Pokémon.

It evolves from Aipom via level-up while knowing Double Hit.

Biology

Physiology

Ambipom is a much larger and advanced form of Aipom. It now has two tails with each a hand with red-tipped fingers. These are much more versatile than Aipom's tail. It also now has a visible nose and longer arms, which it rarely uses.

Gender differences

The two strands of hair that stand up on top of Ambipom's head will be longer if Ambipom is a female.

Special abilities

Behavior

To eat, it deftly shucks nuts with its two tails. Now that it has two hands on its tails, it only occasionally uses its arms. They work in large colonies and make rings by linking their tails, apparently in friendship.

Trivia

  • Despite having two tails, Ambipom's backsprite only shows one.

Origin

It appears to have been based on a monkey, with an exaggerated concept of a prehensile tail.

Name origin

Its English name comes from a combination of the prefix Ambi, meaning both, and what may be the word palm.

The Japanese name may contain 猿 en, monkey, 手 te, hand, and the English word both, referring to the hands on its tail. エテ ete can also be taken to mean monkey.
