He, along with Cynthia and the other members of the Elite Four, was mentioned by Lucian in An Elite Meet and Greet.

Aaron made his debut appearance in DP099 where he was looking for a Wurmple that he regretted releasing when he was younger. He eventually encounters it again as a Beautifly.

He was seen again, one episode later, battling Cynthia, together with his Drapion and Beautifly.

Quotes

Before battle:
"Hello! Welcome to the Pokémon League! I'm Aaron of the Elite Four. It's good to meet you. oh, I should explain, I'm a huge fan of bug Pokémon. Bug Pokémon are nasty-mean, and yet they're beautiful, too... Would you like to know why I take on challengers here, in this room? It's because I want to become perfect, just like my bug Pokémon! Ok! Let me take you on!"

During battle:
"Not yet! Your first Pokémon League victory doesn't come easily, kid."

When defeated:
"I will now concede defeat. But I think you came to see how great Bug-type Pokémon can be. I hope you also realized why you're up against in the Pokémon League. Battling is a deep and complex affair..."

After battle:
"I lost with the most beautiful and toughest of the bug Pokémon... We lost because I wasn't good enough... That's it! Back to training camp! Let's hear it for me! No... That was wrong... Anyway... Go on to the next room! Three Trainers are waiting for you. They are all tougher than me."

Last words:
"Go on, go to the next room. I'm going to become a top-level Trainer who can't be outclassed with my beautiful and tough bug Pokémon!

Trivia

  • Aaron is the only trainer in Pokémon Platinum whose animated sprite enters the screen from the top.
  • In Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, Aaron's Heracross knows Megahorn at level 54, a move it normally learns at level 55. The only way for this to happen normally would be for a female Heracross to be bred with a Pokémon that already knows the move, as the offspring would hatch with the move.
    • Interestingly, Megahorn was removed from its attacks in Platinum. Heracross does not have the move even in the rematch.
  • In Platinum, he is the only Elite Four member who still has a Pokémon that is not of his specialty type. Drapion is a Poison/Dark Pokémon, though it evolves from the Poison/Bug Skorupi. Also, Drapion is part of the Bug Egg Group.
  • In Platinum, he is the only member of the Elite Four who does not have one of their Pokémon know a move of their specialty type: his Heracross.
  • In Platinum, all of his Pokémon except for Drapion have a double weakness: Heracross to Flying, Vespiquen and Yanmega to Rock, and Scizor to Fire.
