Volume 22: Land, Sea and Sky is the twenty-second volume of the Pokémon Adventures manga. It is both the eighth and final volume in the Ruby & Sapphire arc and the first of five volumes in the FireRed & LeafGreen arc. It is authored by 日下秀憲 Hidenori Kusaka and illustrated by 山本サトシ Satoshi Yamamoto.

  • Courtney dies from being buried under a rockslide after being dragged into the Cave of Origin.
  • Norman and Steven meet the same fate after quelling the titans due to the strain of controlling the powerful legends.
  • The reasons for Norman's banning from taking the Gym Leader test are revealed, as are many details regarding Ruby's past history with him.
  • Maxie and Archie return and, after badly wounding Wallace by taking Winona hostage, are eventually defeated by the combined efforts of Ruby and Sapphire.
  • Celebi is able to take back the two orbs and alters the course of events to revive Courtney, Steven, and Norman.
  • Both Ruby and Sapphire are able to meet the deadline on their respective challenges and return to Littleroot Town, where the delayed birthday party of Ruby's is celebrated together with Sapphire's birthday.
  • Giovanni is seen in Hoenn with his underlings, and after a flashback chapter, the FireRed & LeafGreen arc begins.

  • The last two rounds of this volume in the Chuang Yi release do not have official English titles. The names instead are translated Japanese names.
  • This issue has connecting cover art with the previous volume.
  • In the Korean version cover art, part of the white spike extending from Ruby's hat is not recolored to white from the Japanese release, even though the number 22 was moved.
