Kanto is the first region explored by the Generation I games Pokémon Green, Pokémon Red, Pokémon Blue and Pokémon Yellow and in the Generation III remakes of the first Pokémon games: Pokémon FireRed and Pokémon LeafGreen. Kanto is also accessible in the Generation II games Pokémon Gold, Pokémon Silver and Pokémon Crystal. In this region Professor Oak gives the main character a choice between Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle as their choice for a starter Pokémon. You start in Pallet Town and work your way through the Indigo Plateau to become the Pokémon League Champion.

In Pokémon Fire Red and Pokémon Leaf Green, you are able to visit the first two in a chain of islands known as the Sevii Islands. They are unlocked once you beat Blaine on Cinnabar Island. After you beat the Elite Four, you can then visit the other islands which make up this archapelago.
