Copyright characters

Please do no add copyright characters as possible origins (because of copyright laws), unless you have a source saying that it is based on a specific character. However, saying something might be based on a genre of things (like Kaiju) is fine, just don't reference a specific character.--ForceFire 05:25, 3 April 2024 (UTC)

Just wanted to issue a clarification, as Force Fire's description is not entirely reflective of the current policy. Per the speculation policy, in general, "Unsourced character or Pokémon origins should [...] avoid explicit comparisons to specific outside characters or franchises." While in some cases we allow deviations from this policy when the relation is especially clear, those cases are rare, and should generally be discussed on the talk page before adding them as an origin to pages.

In the case of Armaldo, because the similarities to Destoroyah are so weak, I really don't see a good case for making an exception. If you still disagree and think that Destoroyah really is so similar to Armaldo that it needs to be noted, please start a discussion on Talk:Armaldo (Pokémon). --SnorlaxMonster 12:19, 4 April 2024 (UTC)
