The Holiday 2024 — Double Dream Shard Research event was held between December 23 and December 30, 2024. The event location was limited to Greengrass Isle and it introduced four Pokémon to the game, Eevee (Holiday), Alolan Vulpix, Alolan Ninetales, Pawmi, Pawmo and Pawmot. Among Snorlax's favourite berries, the Rawst Berry was guaranteed.

During the event the start screen was adorned with decorations, the campsite was covered in snow with the tent was covered in lights and a wreath with decorated tree, presents, a Pikachu snowman, and various igloos with candles.

Event Bonuses

Over the course of the event, double the amount of Dream Shards was received after sleep research. To further increase the amount of Dream Shards that could be received, the Dream Shard Magnet S skill was twice as effective. Ice-type Pokémon had a higher chance of being encountered, brought an extra ingredient, had their main skill level increased by 1 and had their main skill trigger increased by 1.5× for the week. The odds of encountering a Shiny Pokémon were also boosted and there was also an increased chance to encounter Pokémon of a different sleep type regardless of the sleeps style. On December 24 and 25, players received a limited-time Dream Gift containing 30,000 Dream Shards and a Main Skill Seed.

A Candy Boost feature was available for this event which for five times the usual amount of Dream Shards, the experience was doubled. This bonus was limited to a maximum of 500 candies per day (3,500 over the week).

Pokémon bonuses

New Pokémon

Five new Pokémon were added including Alolan Vulpix, Alolan Ninetales, Pawmi, Pawmo and Pawmot and a new form was introduced for Eevee wearing a red hat. Similarly to Holiday Pikachu, this Eevee was unable to evolve. This meant that additional seventeen sleep styles were introduced to the game. Only the ★, ★★ and ★★★★ sleep styles were available on Greengrass Isle (where applicable), the other styles could be encountered on other islands the Pokémon spawn on.

Increased encounter chance

Pikachu (Holiday), Alolan Vulpix, Alolan Ninetales, Eevee (Holiday), Sealeo, Walrein, Snover Abomasnow, Pawmo and Pawmot were temporarily added to Greengrass Isle, while Pawmi was permanently added to the spawn pool. Alolan Vulpix and Alolan Ninetales can spawn on Snowdrop Tundra and Pawmi, Pawmo and Pawmot could be found on Snowdrop Tundra and Old Gold Power Plant. After the event, Pikachu (Holiday) and Eevee (Holiday) could only be found with an Incense and Alolan Vulpix could be found with an Incense on Greengrass Isle until January 7, 2025.
