The Entei Research event was held between May 20 and June 3, 2024, and featured the first appearance of Entei in the game. This event also served as a successor to the Fire Type Research event. This event was exclusive to Greengrass Isle and had one of Snorlax's favourite berry set to the Leppa Berry. During this event, the start screen and the campsite were decorated with lava due to increased volcanic activity. The background music was changed to an arrangement of the Ecruteak City theme; it was composed and produced by Shoto Kageyama with guitar by Yasutaka Nakajima. This event brought the return of the Event Exchange that allowed players to exchange Entei Mane for a variety of items including the newly released Entei Biscuits, Entei Incense and Entei Candy.

Entei was a Special Special Pokémon — only one Entei could be on a player's team at any time.

The first Entei that all players caught had the same Nature and sub skills, but could have different ingredients.

Alongside the release of Entei were its incense and candy, as well as the event-exclusive item Entei Mane and Entei Biscuit. Players were only able to have a single Entei Incense in their bag at a time, and any 'set' but unused incense was counted towards this total. After the event's conclusion, leftover Entei Biscuits were converted into Great Biscuits and any Entei Manes remaining were lost.
